1. Periodic structures and lumped elements in microwave passives
Sammanfattning : The ambition of this work is the incorporation of ferroelectric varactors as tuneable elements in Si integrated circuits (ICs). This thesis presents partialfulfillments of the work. LÄS MER
2. Intermodulation Distortion in Active and Passive Components
Sammanfattning : Wireless communication is growing rapidly, and the demand for higher data rate, low latency, and availability leads to a more complex infrastructure with new challenges. Multiple communication systems have to co-exist in a densely populated frequency-spectrum, where higher power levels and more sensitive receivers are required. LÄS MER
3. Superconducting High Speed Passive Interconnects
Sammanfattning : Superconducting digital RSFQ technology offers unique digital processing solutions for the telecommunication that allows more than three times increasing capacity of the 3G networks, makes telecommunication receivers reconfigurable and adjustable for different services, and significantly enhances security level of the data transfer over the fibers.Key features of RSFQ technology are high speed, low power and high integration density. 4. Active and Passive Unequally Spaced Reflect-Arrays and Elements of RF Integration Techniques
Sammanfattning : Using an array synthesis tool based on a modified differential evolution algorithm, it is shown that the position-phase synthesis exhibits improved pattern characteristics compared to both the phase only and position only synthesis of uniform amplitude antenna arrays. The design of an unequally spaced planar reflect-array and an active power combining reflect-array are presented. LÄS MER
5. Tethered Lipid Vesicles as Nanoscale Sensor Elements
Sammanfattning : The primary aim of this thesis work has been to explore and advance the potential of surface tethered lipid vesicles as a platform for studying in particular the following three biomembrane-related processes: trans-membrane transport, membrane-peptide interactions and the activity of membrane active enzymes. First, a method based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy was developed for studying passive diffusion processes as well as the membrane-protein mediated transport of small non electrolyte molecules across lipid bilayers.
