1. Multiparton Interaction Models and Parton Shower Studies
Sammanfattning : This thesis involves phenomenological models for describing high energy particle collisions. One class of these models, multiparton interactions (MPI), deals with the fact that when colliding two hadrons, it is possible for more than one pair of their constituents to interact. LÄS MER
2. Improving Parton Showers with Fixed Order Matrix Elements
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers numerical simulations of high energy particle collisions, and improvements in the description of multiple collimated jets of hadrons in collision events in particular. In the event simulation software called event generators, the structure of multi-jet events is determined through an interplay of the input calculation, parton showers and phenomenological hadronisation models. 3. Merging Parton Showers and Matrix Elements
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers models for describing high energy particle collisions. Existing phenomonological models are modified and new implementations made in order to achive a better description of states with several hard jets. To predict final state hadrons, parton showers are used together with pheonomenological hadronization models. LÄS MER
4. Multiplet bases, recursion relations and full color parton showers
Sammanfattning : The papers in this thesis all concern the treatment of colors in perturbative QCD, both in the context of hard scattering cross sections and for parton showers. The complexity of the color structure of QCD increases quickly with the number of external partons. LÄS MER
5. QCD Phenomenology of Heavy Particle Dynamics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the phenomenology of Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) is studied in a variety of circumstances from both perturbative and non-perturbative perspectives. The main emphasis is on the production and hadronization of heavy particles, specifically heavy quarks, gauge bosons, leptoquarks and supersymmetric particles. LÄS MER
