  1. 11. Engineering of Pharmaceutical Particles : Modulation of Particle Structural Properties, Solid-State Stability and Tabletting Behaviour by the Drying Process

    Författare :Jonas Berggren; Göran Alderborn; Graham Buckton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; particle engineering; microcrystalline cellulose pellets; intragranular porosity; convective drying; tabletting behaviour; spray-dried composite particles; amorphous lactose; PVP; heat and moisture-induced crystallisation; glass transition temperature; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Relationships between stresses during the drying process, particle structural and functional properties, and particle engineering by the drying process were addressed in this thesis. In the first part, the importance of the drying phase and the effect of the drying rate on the intragranular porosity of microcrystalline cellulose pellets were investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Isocyanates - methodology for gas and particle generation, sampling and detection

    Författare :Daniel Gylestam; Marianne Dalene; Gunnar Skarping; Daniel Karlsson; Dhimiter Bello; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Isocyanate; PUR; Dry sampler; PTR-MS; Transfer line; PPE; Environmental Chamber; Respirable Particles; Denuder Impactor; Aerosol; Particles; Impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; di-n-butylamine; DBA; ICA; MIC; HDI; TDI; IPDI; MDI; Occupational Exposure; Exposure; Occupational Health; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Isocyanates are mainly used in the industry for the production of polyurethane (PUR) plastics. Workers are at risk of being exposed during the manufacturing of PUR. During thermal degradation of PUR, isocyanates are released and workers involved in hot work such as fire-fighting, welding etc. may also be exposed. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Physical Characterization of Actinide Particles - A Study on Novel Techniques for Radiological and Nuclear Safeguard Investigations

    Författare :Ylva Ranebo; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; plutonium oxide particles; secondary ion mass spectrometry; uranium oxide particles; hot particles; vibrating orifice aerosol generator; scanning electron microscopy; nuclear safeguards;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a study of advanced analytical techniques, for the characterization of actinide particles originating from the non-peaceful use of nuclear technology and from international inspections of the nuclear fuel cycle associated with non-proliferation agreements. The thesis is based on five papers, which will be referred to by Paper I-V in the text. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Environmental records of carbonaceous fly-ash particles from fossil-fuel combustion

    Författare :Maria Wik; Lars Ericson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbonaceous particles; soot; anthropogenic particles; oil and coal combustion; fossil fuel combustion; lake sediments; lake acidification; forest soils; historical monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuel combustion produces fly-ash particles that are released into the atmosphere and deposited in the environment. A particularly characteristic kind of fly-ash is spheroidal carbonaceous particles. They are composed of an amorphous carbon matrix in which other elements are dispersed. LÄS MER
