  1. 1. Material matters in co-designing : formatting & staging with participating materials in co-design projects, events & situations

    Författare :Mette Agger Eriksen; Tuuli Mattelmäki; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Co-designing; broad views of materiality; interaction design; participatory design; co-creation; service design; performative perspectives; roles of non-human materials; co-design networks; projects; events and situations; material of the co-designer; staging and formatting co-designing; practice-based; participatory; yet interventionistic approach; programmatic and experimental approach; designerly way of theorizing and drawing together approach;

    Sammanfattning : Material Matters in Co-designing Participation in design is broadening, and there is a movement away from designing to co-designing. They are related, but the little co- makes them different organizational and socio-material practices. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Participatory approach to data warehousing in health care : UGANDA’S Perspective

    Författare :Charles Otine; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; participatory methodology; data warehouse; data mining in health care; HIV AIDS; Uganda;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents the use of participatory approach to developing a data warehouse for data mining in health care. Uganda is one of the countries that faced the largest brunt of the HIV/AIDS epidemic at its inception in the early 1980s with reports of close to a million deaths. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Incorporating user values in the design of information systems and services in the public sector : a methods approach

    Författare :Niklas Hallberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is motivated by the aim of public-sector organizations to become more efficient by quality improvement efforts and the introduction of infonnation systems. The main objective is to explore methods for the design of infonnation systems and information-system-supported services in the public sector, which meet the users' needs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Integrating Computational and Participatory Simulations for Design in Complex Systems

    Författare :Jayanth Raghothama; Sebastiaan Meijer; Gunnar Flötteröd; Hidehiko Kanegae; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; distributed simulations; interactive; participatory; gaming; complexity theory; fidelity; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Sammanfattning : The understanding and conceptualization of cities and its constituent systems such as transportation and healthcare as open and complex is shifting the debates around the technical and communicative rationales of planning. Viewing cities in a holistic manner presents methodological challenges, where our understanding of complexity is applied in a tangible fashion to planning processes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Critical indirectness as a design approach in participatory practice: Spatialities of multivocal estrangement in three engagements with public cultural institutions around participatory projects in Gothenburg

    Författare :Jonathan Geib; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; indirectness; multivocal design approach; design; participation; multivocality; transdisciplinary architectural research; critical spatial practice; spatiality; estrangement; design approach;

    Sammanfattning : Contributing across the domains of open transdisciplinary inquiry and transdisciplinary- and practice-oriented architectural and urbanism research engaging critically with participation in urban contexts, this research proposes critical indirectness as a multivocal design approach in participatory practice, developed through conceptual-analytical inquiry into three cases involving engagements between external art and design practitioners and public cultural institutions around participatory projects in Gothenburg. It joins with calls for art and design practitioners' greater engagement with public sector institutions as way of working towards a more durable and wider impact, with calls to model a more de-centered 'urban-combinatory' practice on the plurality, hybridity, discontinuities, and contingencies of the contemporary city, and with calls for more multiple, contradictory approaches.
