  1. 16. Genomic instability and genetic heterogeneity in neuroblastoma tumours

    Författare :Niloufar Javanmardi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma tumour; subclone; mutation; relapse; deep sequencing; tumour supressor gene;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma (NB), a tumour of the sympathetic nervous system and the most common malignant disease of early childhood, is responsible for 9% of paediatric cancer related deaths. Aggressive NB still constitutes a major clinical problem with survival rates of about 35%. LÄS MER

    Författare :Priya Devi; Anders Bergqvist; Björn Olsen; Tanel Punga; Gerald McInerney; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HCV; core protein; SHP-1; CpG methylation; bisulfite sequencing; NGS; PBMC; Ca2 NFAT; strand-specific RT qPCR; Klinisk virologi; Clinical Virology; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an RNA virus that causes chronic infection, which can lead to hepatocellular carcinomas in humans. Besides liver diseases, the chronic HCV infection causes a broad spectrum of extrahepatic complications such as lymphoproliferative, metabolic and autoimmune disorders. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Metabolic Engineering of Central Carbon Metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae The contribution of systems biology to physiological studies

    Författare :Marta Papini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fermentation technology; Metabolic engineering; RNA-sequencing; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; DNA microarrays; 13Cbased flux analysis; system biology; Scheffersomyces stipitis;

    Sammanfattning : Saccharomyces cerevisiae is one of the most well characterized yeast of large industrial interest due to several attractivefeatures such as its capability to efficiently convert glucose into ethanol and carbon dioxide at high flux, its amenabilityto genetic modification and the presence of extensive knowledge databases. For these reasons, it is often considered asuitable cell factory for the production of different classes of compounds. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Development of separation methods for DNA sequencing and oligonucleotide analysis by capillary lectrophoresis

    Författare :Peter Lindberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of methods for theseparation of DNA sequencing fragments and otheroligonucleotides by capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), and isbased on live publications.In the first work [Il, an eightfold increase in lifetime ofultra-narrow bore (2-lo-micron ID) gel filled columns comparedto 50-micron ID columns at high electrical field strengths wasexperienced, presumably due to the better heat dissipationobtained in the former columns. 5. 20. Perturbance and Stimulation : using Nitrogen Addition and High-Throughput Sequencing to Study Fungal Communities in Boreal Forests

    Författare :Andreas N. Schneider; Nathaniel Street; Vaughan Hurry; Torgny Näsholm; Colin Averill; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boreal forest; Scots pine; Norway spruce; ectomycorrhiza; saprotroph; fertilization; nitrogen; mycobiome; rhizosphere; decomposition; carbon; seedling establishment; forest management; clearcutting;

    Sammanfattning : Fungal communities are major players in globally important nutrient cycling processes, and form symbioses with most terrestrial plants. In the nitrogen (N) limited Swedish boreal forest, ectomycorrhizal (EcM) fungi colonize most roots of the economically important and stand dominating conifer species, Norway spruce (Picea abies) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), with significant implications for tree nutrition and decomposition processes.
