  1. 1. Effects of Denervation and Infravesical Obstruction in the Rat Urinary Bladder

    Författare :Tord Berggren; Urologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infravesical obstruction; Lactate dehydrogenase; Atropine; Hypertrophy; Vasopressin; Ultrastructure; Parasympathetic nerves; Smooth muscle; Pelvic Ganglion; Rat Urinary Bladder; Ganglionectomy; Cystometry; Denervation.truction; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Median micturition volume decreased early after partial outlet obstruction, 24 hrs total obstruction and hemidenervation. Degeneration release of transmitter may explain this, assuming that bladder wall distension causes nerve degeneration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Consequences of Arterial Switch Operation in Children Born with Transposition of the Great Arteries

    Författare :Cecilia Falkenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transpositon of the great arteries; arterial switch operation; autonomous nerves system; norepinephrine; heart rate variability; cardiopulmonary bypass; piglets;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: The introduction of the arterial switch operation (ASO) made it the procedure of choice for surgical correction of transposition of the great arteries. A majority of the sympathetic nerves innervate the heart alongside the great vessels; these are therefore likely to be damaged during the surgical procedure; imposing new challenges and questions that need to be addressed. 3. 3. The neuropeptides GRP and PACAP and the function of the endocrine pancreas - A study on receptor deficient mice

    Författare :Kristin Persson; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; hypoglycemia; glucagon; insulin; islet of Langerhans; diabetes; PACAP; neuropeptides; GRP; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The parasympathetic nerves are important for the regulation of insulin secretion, in particular after meal intake. Apart from acetylcholine, several neuropeptides can be found in the parasympathetic nerves innervating the islets of Langerhans, including gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP). 4. 4. Peripheral nerve glia as multipotent progenitors in craniofacial development

    Författare :Maryam Khatibi Shahidi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Craniofacial development is complex. Numerous populations of progenitor cells coordinate activities to produce an array of highly integrated tissues inside the developing head. However, it is not clear how some key multipotent progenitors continue to exist in late developing head compartments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of Islet Function by the Neuropeptide PACAP

    Författare :Karin Filipsson; Diabetes - molekylär metabolism; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postprandial; calcium; sodium; cAMP; intracellular signaling; glucagon; insulin; Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide; PACAP receptors; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is known that parasympathetic, sympathetic and sensory nerves innervate the islets and that these nerves harbor both classical neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. However, the neural influence on islet hormone release is complex and not yet fully understood A recently discovered pancreatic neuropeptide is pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP).
