Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis are to shed light on the handling of fathers’ violence in the context of separation and divorce in Sweden today; and to analytically and empirically relate age, gender and kinship to each other. The aims are fulfilled by three interlinked studies of what constructions and the constructing of age, gender and kinship mean for the handling of fathers’ violence against mothers/co-parents and children: in social policy; by separated mothers; and finally by family law secretaries. This thesis aimed to develop an evidence-based programme for antenatal preparation for early parenthood and to test its feasibility. Sammanfattning : The theme of this dissertation is the way in which the process of becoming a father is experienced, constituted, and constructed in Sweden in the 1990's. From the perspective of cultural analysis, I seek to discuss what men who become fathers today see as important in the constitution of themselves as parents and what is important in the eyes of other people; what occasions and actiona are significant, what procedures one can or should gp through, and how they are perceived; and how these men differ from fathers in previous generations and how they view this.
