  1. 1. Nonlinear Quantile Regression for Longitudinal Data

    Författare :Andreas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; bootstrap; dependent errors; median regression; Monte Carlo simulation; panel data; repeated measures; Statistics; Statistik; Biostatistics; Biostatistik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall objective of the two papers in this thesis is to examine the properties of the weighted nonlinear quantile regression estimator for the analysis of longitudinal data. To this end, the question of which weights to be used, the bias of the estimator and the possibility to calculate confidence intervals has to be examined. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Differences and similarities in work absence behavior : - empirical evidence from micro data

    Författare :Maria Nilsson; Mårten Palme; Jan Erik Askildsen; Växjö universitet; []

  4. 4. Essays on Fiscal Policy, Private Consumption and Non-Stationary Panel Data

    Författare :Kristian Jönsson; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ekonomiska system; ekonomisk politik; economic systems; economic theory; econometrics; Economics; Cross-Sectional Dependence; Output Convergence; Unit Root; Stationarity; Panel Data; Government Consumption; Non-Keynesian Effects; Private Consumption; economic policy; Nationalekonomi; ekonometri; ekonomisk teori; Fiscal Policy;

    Sammanfattning : In the first essay of this thesis, we examine whether the effects of fiscal expansions and contractions exert a symmetric influence on the relationship between fiscal policy and private consumption. Our results indicate a considerable asymmetry across fiscal expansions and contractions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Non-linear dynamic modelling for panel data in the social sciences

    Författare :Shyam Ranganathan; David JT Sumpter; Oliver Johnson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Dynamical systems; stochastic models; Bayesian; panel data; social sciences; development; Mathematics with specialization in Applied Mathematics; Matematik med inriktning mot tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Non-linearities and dynamic interactions between state variables are characteristic of complex social systems and processes. In this thesis, we present a new methodology to model these non-linearities and interactions from the large panel datasets available for some of these systems. LÄS MER
