17. Biomarkers in pancreatic and other periampullary cancers - some familiar and one new
Sammanfattning : AbstractBackground: Adenocarcinomas arising in the area around the papilla of Vater are referred to as periampullary adenocarcinomas and are of four different anatomical origins: pancreas, distal bile duct, ampulla and duodenum. These heterogeneous tumors are usually divided into two morphological subtypes, pancreatobiliary type (PB-type) and intestinal type (I-type), which provides more important prognostic information than tumor origin. 18. In search of early biomarkers in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma using multi-omics and bioinformatics
Sammanfattning : Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a very aggressive malignancy with a 5-year survival of 10 %. Surgery is the only curative treatment. Unfortunately, few patients are eligible for surgery due to late detection. Thus, we need ways to detect the disease at an earlier stage and for that good screening biomarkers could be used. LÄS MER
19. Prognostic factors in periampullary adenocarcinoma. A retrospective study over an 11 year period
Sammanfattning : Periampullary adenocarcinoma, including pancreatic cancer, has a poor prognosis that has not improved in the last decades. Therefore, in order to find more effective treatment regimens, it is necessary to gain more insight into the biology and clinical behaviour of these tumours. LÄS MER
20. Basement membrane collagens in pancreatic cancer : novel stroma-derived tumor markers and regulators of cancer cell growth
Sammanfattning : Background: Among the common malignancies, pancreatic cancer has the shortest long-term survival. The aggressive, rapid, and infiltrative growth pattern of pancreatic cancer, together with the lack of specific symptoms, often leads to late diagnosis. LÄS MER
