6. Resonant vortex-pair dynamics and magnetocalorics in magnetic nanostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the dynamics of spin vortex pairs in nanopillars andthermal effects in magnetic multilayers with RKKY-like indirect exchange.Spin vortices are being investigated as storage elements for memory applicationsas well as for GHz oscillators and signal processing devices. 7. Viral parameters influencing clinical long-term non progression in HIV-1 infected subjects
Sammanfattning : A very small portion of the HIV-1 infected population is constituted by individuals, called long- term non progressors (LTNP), in whom after even a decade or more, no visible deterioration of the immune system is recognized and the infection remains therefore asymptomatic. The reasons for such "natural" prolonged well-being can be attributed to both the virus and the infected host and their understanding is likely to give important information for the development of an effective HIV- vaccine and for immune reconstitution therapy. 8. Oscillator design in III-V technologies
Sammanfattning : The thesis treats the design of low phase noise oscillators/VCOs in GaAs/InGaP HBT and GaN HEMT technologies. The covered topics are: active device modeling, noise characterization, passive structures, phase noise models, simulation/measurement tools, circuit topologies, and design techniques. LÄS MER
9. Selective Transformations of Allylic Compounds and Enol Derivatives : Synthesis of Fluorinated and Nitrogenated Scaffolds
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, new synthetic methods to give access to molecules having fluorinated scaffolds and other polar functional groups have been developed. The methods give access to highly valuable organic compounds that may serve as building blocks in the synthesis of functionalized drug candidates. LÄS MER
10. Clinical and genetical aspects of Celiac Disease
Sammanfattning : Celiac disease (CD), or gluten-sensitive enteropathy, is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood but is diagnosed in all ages. CD is a genetically driven immunological intolerance to dietary gluten. Th e treatment is a gluten-free diet. LÄS MER
