  1. 16. Acute Confusional State in Elderly Patients with Hip Fracture. Identification of risk factors and intervention using a prehospital and perioperative management program

    Författare :Karin Björkman Björkelund; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postoperative confusion; mortality; pain; fasting; hypoxemia; complications; ASA; Anemia; transfusion.; anesthesia;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge about underlying causes and perioperative risk factors of Acute Confusional State (ACS) in elderly patients with hip fracture and to investigate the effect of a multi-factorial intervention program in order to decrease the number of patients who develop ACS. The aim in paper I was to describe elderly patients with hip fracture on the basis of the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ ASA classification system and to identify preoperative risk factors in relation to the postoperative outcome measured up to 4-months after surgery. 2. 17. Patellofemoral pain syndrome : clinical and pathophysiological considerations

    Författare :Jan Näslund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Patellofemoral pain syndrome; pain mechanism; bone blood flow; ischemia;

    Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders and is reported to affect 15%-33% of the active adult population and 21%-45% of adolescents. Among adolescents, the incidence is reported to be higher for girls. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Distal Radius Fractures : aspects on radiological and clinical outcome and evaluation of a new classification system

    Författare :Mats Wadsten; Göran Sjödén; Magnus Tägil; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Distal radius fracture; Buttazzoni classification; volar; comminution; reliability; radiological outcome; clinical outcome; late displacement; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Distal radius fracture (DRF) is the most common fracture encountered in clinical practice. Every year, more than 20000 people in Sweden suffer from this injury. It has been shown that there is a correlation between malalignment and function following distal radial fractures and malunion may cause persistent pain and disability. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Lumbar disc herniation. Clinical outcome and segmental stability using a new radiological classification and radiostereometry

    Författare :Klas Halldin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :lumbar disc herniation; discectomy; radiostereometry; segmental stability; instability; surgical outcome; radiological classification;

    Sammanfattning : Satisfactory results following conventional lumbar discectomy have been reported in 70-90% of cases. Remaining or recurrent low back pain or sciatica is, however, seen in many patients for reasons not yet fully understood. A relationship has previously been shown between the morphologic characteristics, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Hip disability : patient education, classification and assessment

    Författare :Maria Klässbo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Activity limitations; assessment; capsular pattern; classification; disability; hip; HOOS; NHP; osteoarthritis; pain; physiotherapy; range of motion; stiffness; quality of life; WOMAC;

    Sammanfattning : Hip disability is common and entails activity limitations, participation restrictions and increased risk of further disability and health problems, partially due to inactivity. Hip osteoarthritis (OA), the major diagnosis, is difficult to define, especially when no joint space narrowing is seen in radiography. LÄS MER
