16. Free Volume Depth Profiling at Polymer Surfaces and Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Pulsed low energy positron beams provide a unique and non-destructive tool to depth probe the free volume of polymers at surfaces and interfaces. Since the employment of low energy positron beams in polymer research is an emerging technique, some focus in this thesis has been on extracting methods and equations needed to interpret the experimental data. 17. Design of Functional Polymeric Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : Most of the devastating diseases such as cancer are relatively incurable and have high risks of relapse. Therefore, persistent endeavors have been devoted to improve patient survival rate and quality of life. LÄS MER
18. Separation of plastics by flotation
Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses and summarises the importance of plastics waste recycling and plastics waste separation, presents an innovative principle for plastics flotation, and provides various methods for the separation of plastics mixtures. The objective is to understand the mechanisms for selective flotation separation of plastics, get plastics mixtures separated and enable more plastics wastes to be recycled. LÄS MER
19. Identification of Viscoelastic Materials by Use of Wave Propagation Methods
Sammanfattning : Complex moduli and Poisson’s ratio have been estimated using extensional and torsional wave experiments. The data were used for assessment of linearity and isotropy of two polymers, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polypropylene (PP). The responses of both materials were found to be close to linear and isotropic. LÄS MER
20. Generic Properties of Polymer Solutions
Sammanfattning : Polymer solutions are abundantly present in our daily life, for example in paints, jellies, contact lenses and even in the living cells. Despite their ubiquity, we still have a poor understanding of the physical properties of solutions due to the extremely large number of internal degrees of freedom. LÄS MER
