  2. 7. Defects in Austenitic Steels and Hard Metals - A DFT-based Study

    Författare :Ruiwen Xie; Levente Vitos; Ilja Turek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; defects; austenitic steels; cemented carbides; ab-initio; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Materials are never 100% pure due to the limitation of purification method or manufacturing process. Nor are they perfect, especially under deformation. The present work aims to explore different roles played by the defects in austenitic steels and hard metals. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Net-Shape Consolidation of Water-Atomised and Gas-Atomised Steel Powder Towards Full Density

    Författare :Anok Babu Nagaram; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hot isostatic pressing; high temperature sintering; sintering atmosphere; cold isostatic pressing; Powder metallurgy; Prealloyed with Cr PM steel; high density; PM steel;

    Sammanfattning : Powder metallurgy (PM) provides resource- and cost-efficient routes to create near-net shape products compared to conventional metal fabrication techniques. To improve the mechanical performance of PM steels, it is a prerequisite to enhance the density of the material. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Critical Aspects of Delubrication and Sintering of Chromium-alloyed Powder Metallurgy Steels

    Författare :Seshendra Karamchedu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; delubrication; oxide reduction; surface oxide; carbon control; sintering atmosphere; chromium-alloyed sintered steels;

    Sammanfattning : The cost efficiency and performance of Powder Metallurgy (PM) steels can be improved by replacing conventionally used alloying elements such as copper and nickel with chromium. Utilizing chromium imposes a challenge in terms of processing due to its effect on powder compressibility and high oxygen affinity, the latter of which, to a certain extent, is dealt with by introducing chromium in prealloyed form that decreases its activity. 5. 10. Microstructure and Fatigue Analysis of PM-HIPed Alloys : A Focus on Inconel 625 and High-Nitrogen Tool Steel

    Författare :Faezeh Javadzadeh Kalahroudi; Mikael Grehk; Mattias Calmunger; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; powder metallurgy; hot isostatic pressing; Inconel 625; high-nitrogen tool steel; microstructure; fatigue behavior; inclusions; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Nickel-based superalloys and tool steels are well-known high-performance alloys due to their extensive use in many different industries. Nickel-based superalloys have found their way into aircraft, aerospace, marine, chemical, and petrochemical industries owing to their excellent high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance.
