6. PID Control, Design, Extension, Application
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the design of PID controllers, the extensions of these controllers to improve their performance, and the applications of these design methods to industrial processes. New tuning methods for PI and PID controllers have been presented. These methods uses a model of the process to be controlled, given as a transfer function. LÄS MER
7. Modeling, Control and Optimization of a Plate Reactor
Sammanfattning : A new chemical reactor, the Alfa Laval Plate Reactor, is being developed by Alfa Laval, a Swedish world-leading heat exchanger company. The plate reactor combines the high-heat-transfer capabilities of plate heat exchangers with the efficient mixing and reaction control typical of microreactors. LÄS MER
8. Control of Systems with Limited Capacity
Sammanfattning : Virtually all real life systems are such that they present some kind of limitation on one or many of its variables, physical quantities. These systems are designated in this thesis as systems with limited capacity. This work is treating control related problems of a subclass of such systems, where the limitation is a critical factor. 9. On LQG-Optimal Event-Based Sampling
Sammanfattning : Event-based control is a promising concept for the design of resource-efficient feedback systems, where events such as sampling, actuation, and data transmissions are triggered reactively based on monitored control performance rather than a periodic timer. In this thesis, we investigate how sampling and communication events should be triggered to fully exploit the potential of event-based control based on the classic linear–quadratic–Gaussian (LQG) framework. 10. Control of EGR and VGT for emission control and pumping work minimization in diesel engines
Sammanfattning : Legislators steadily increase the demands on lowered emissions from heavy duty vehicles. To meet these demands it is necessary to integrate technologies like Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Variable Geometry Turbochargers (VGT) together with advanced control systems. LÄS MER
