  1. 1. Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation Dispersion and Pulsed-Gradient Spin Echo Studies of Biomolecular Solutions and Amphiphilic Liquid Crystals

    Författare :Haukur Jóhannesson; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stretched dispersion; DNA hydration; solvent dynamics; NMRD; Random flight simulation; PGSE; Diffusion; Nematic phase; NMR; Amphiphilic liquid crystals; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Biomolecular solutions and amphiphilic liquid crystals are studied by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Dispersion (NMRD) and Pulsed-Gradient Spin Echo (PGSE) respectively. A random-flight simulation is performed to obtain the obstructing factors for self-diffusion of small molecules in macrofluids. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On Phase Behaviours in Lipid/Polymer/Solvent/Water Systems and their Application for Formation of Lipid/Polymer Composite Particles

    Författare :Anna Imberg; Per Hansson; Krister Thuresson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Biodegradable; CLSM; Composite Particles; Controlled Release; Cubic Phases; Drug Delivery; Flory-Huggins Theory; FT-PGSE-NMR; IPMS; Liquid Phase; Lipid Domains; Liquid Handler; Microspheres; Microstructure; Phase Behaviour; Phase Separation; Polymer Matrix; SAXS; Segregation; Sponge Phase; Swelling; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : A new kind of lipid/polymer composite particle, consisting of a biodegradable polymer matrix with well-defined lipid domains, has been created. The lipid used is the water-swelling lipid monoolein (MO), which forms a reversed bicontinuous cubic diamond structure in aqueous solutions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. NMR Self-Diffusion Studies and Stability Studies of Emulsions

    Författare :Ingrid Lönnqvist; LTH Ingenjörshögskolan vid Campus Helsingborg; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coalescence; emulsion stability; size distribution; restricted diffusion; self-diffusion coefficient; self-diffusion PGSE NMR; surfactant; emulsifier; continuous phase; microemulsion; phase diagram; emulsion; multiple emulsion; cream; conductivity; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to characterize emulsion systems by self-diffusion PGSE NMR methods. The specifics of the emulsions studied are all taken from the literature and they are of the W/O or O/W type stabilized with different emulsifiers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Catanionic Surfactant Mixtures and Binary Systems of Modified Fatty Acid Surfactants. Phase Equilibria and Structure

    Författare :Malin Bydén Sjöbom; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coacervation; asymmetry; bile salt; didodecyldimethylammonium bromide; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; catanionic surfactant mixture; intermediate phase; a-methylsubstituted sodium carboxylate; dodecylpyridinium bromide; ionic surfactant; polarizing microscopy; FT-PGSE self-diffusion; 2H NMR; SAXS; liquid crystal; micelle; phase equilibria; phase diagram;

    Sammanfattning : Surfactant self-assembly is an important phenomenon that occurs in a number of processes in our everyday life. It is important to understand the forces and parameters that control and influence the self-assembly, as this knowledge can be used both in order to design surfactant systems with desired properties and for creating model systems, for example for biological processes. 5. 5. NMR studies of complex fluids and solids formed by surfactants

    Författare :Niklas Hedin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :CTAB; CTAC; decane; benzene; polysaccharide; micelle; microemulsion; self diffusion;

    Sammanfattning : NMR methods have been designed and employed in studying ofcomplex liquids and solids formed by surfactants. PGSE NMRexperiments are easily biased by convection; this artifact canbe avoided by changing the sample holder and by usingconvection-compensated pulse sequences. LÄS MER
