1. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water
Sammanfattning : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. LÄS MER
2. Controlling Structure and Water Miscibility of Polyion - Surfactant Ion Complex Salts
Sammanfattning : The interaction between poylions and oppositely charged surfactant ions has been investigated. This has been done by using the pure complex salt (polyion + surfactant ion) as a point of departure. Different parameters of the complex salt have been varied in a systematic way and the effect on structure and water miscibility has been investigated. LÄS MER
3. Effects of a Novel Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer on Ternary Mixtures of Surfactant, Water, and Oil
Sammanfattning : An amphiphilic graft copolymer, with hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether side chains grafted onto a hydrophobic poly(dodecyl methacrylate) backbone, has been synthesized. The side chains are water soluble and the backbone is soluble in oils such as cyclohexane and isooctane. LÄS MER
4. NMR Self-Diffusion Studies of Surfactant and Polymer Systems. Methodology and Applications
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis has been to explore how the PFG NMR technique for diffusion measurements can be used to obtain useful information from various systems. The investigated systems have one thing in common; they belong to the general field of surface and colloid chemistry. LÄS MER
5. NMR Diffusion Studies of Association in Surfactant Systems Inclusion Complexes, Micellar Solutions and Microemulsions
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate self-diffusion behavior of host-guest complex, microemulsion and polymer solution. Pulsed Field Gradient NMR (PFG-NMR) was shown to provide detailed molecular information in all system studied. LÄS MER
