  1. 1. Environmental Toxins and Essential Trace Elements at Delivery and ADHD

    Författare :Amanda Ode; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PFCs; manganese; selenium; phthalates; ADHD; fetus;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), phthalates, manganese and selenium are ubiquitous in the environment and humans and influence fetal growth and development. Register and biobank based case-control studies were conducted to investigate the relationship between prenatal exposure to these chemicals and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in childhood. 2. 2. Developmental neurotoxicity of persistent and non-persistent pollutants : Behavioral and neurochemical assessments of a perfluorinated compound, pesticides and interaction effects

    Författare :Iwa Lee; Henrik Viberg; Per Eriksson; William Mundy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Brain; Neonatal; Mixtures; Cholinergic system; Organochlorines; Pyrethroids; Organophosphates; Carbamates; Insecticides; PFCs; PFAAs; PFHxS; Endosulfan; Cypermethrin; Chlorpyrifos; Carbaryl; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology; Biologi med inriktning mot miljötoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis was to investigate developmental neurotoxic effects of different persistent and non-persistent environmental pollutants, alone or in binary mixtures, when exposure occurs during a critical period of brain development, in mice. The compounds investigated included a perfluorinated compound, perfluorohexane sulphonate (PFHxS), and four different pesticides, endosulfan, cypermethrin, chlorpyrifos and carbaryl. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of human exposure to per- and polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) : exposure through food, drinking water, house dust and indoor air

    Författare :Ingrid Ericson Jogsten; Gunilla Lindström; Bert van Bavel; Stuart Harrad; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; human exposure; per- and polyfluorinated compunds PFCs ; dietary intake; drinking water; indoor environment; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are detected in humans worldwide but all sources of human exposure have not been fully characterized. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the contributions from food, water, air and dust as sources for human PFC exposure in the general population. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Analysis and human levels of persistent perfluorinated chemicals

    Författare :Anna Kärrman; Gunilla Lindström; Bert van Bavel; Ulf Järnberg; Jessika Hagberg; Lennart Hardell; Derek Muir; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFOS; PFOA; SPE; LC-MS; human exposure; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : An extensive use of perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in the last 50 years has resulted in a worldwide spread of these persistent chemicals. Human populations are subjected to a large number of PFCs in ways that are not yet fully explained. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Neonatal Exposure to Highly Brominated Diphenyl Ethers and Perfluorinated Compounds : Developmental Dependent Toxicity and Interaction

    Författare :Niclas Johansson; Per Eriksson; Anders Fredriksson; Henrik Viberg; Hellmuth Lilienthal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; Ecotoxicology; ekotoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated the developmental neurotoxic effects of neonatal exposure to highly brominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), alone or in combinations, during a critical period of the brains’ rapid growth and development, in mice. The compounds investigated were the decaBDE (PBDE 209), nonaBDE (PBDE 206), octaBDE (PBDE 203), heptaBDE (PBDE 183), and three PFCs, PFOS, PFOA, and PFDA. LÄS MER
