  1. 1. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions

    Författare :Solmaz Bayati; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer; Block Copolymer; PEO-PPO-PEO; Pluronics©; Bile Salt; NaGDC; PNIPAAM; PAMPTMA; PAMPS; Mixed Micelle; Self-Assembly; Mixed Complexes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems. 2. 2. Aqueous Block Copolymer Systems. Self-association, Phase Behaviour and Partitioning of Biomolecules

    Författare :Mårten Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; block copolymer self-association partitioning phase behaviour; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The phase and partitioning behaviour of aqueous block copolymer systems has been studied. The block copolymers used in this work were built up of three blocks. The middle block was poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and hydrophobic. The two outer blocks constisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chains and less hydrophobic. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Liposomes for Drug Delivery : from Physico-chemical Studies to Applications

    Författare :Nill Bergstrand; Katarina Edwards; Felix M Goni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; liposome; steric stabilisation; BNCT; cryo-TEM; EGF; targeting; stability; permeability; pH-sensitive liposomes; triggered release; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Physico-chemical characterisation of structure and stability of liposomes intended for drug delivery is the central issue in this thesis. In addition, targeted liposomes to be used in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) were developed.Lysolipids and fatty acids are products formed upon hydrolysis of PC-lipids. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Interaction between Triblock Copolymers and Surfactants in Dilute Aqueous Solution

    Författare :Jörgen Jansson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Calorimetry; SAXS; DLS; SLS; Light scattering; Structure; Complex; Block copolymer-surfactant interaction; Block copolymer vesicles; Self-assembly; Triblock copolymers; NMR;

    Sammanfattning : The solution properties of dilute aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) triblock copolymers and their interaction with surfactants have been investigated using static and dynamic light scattering, combined with small angle X-ray scattering, calorimetry and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. In aqueous solution, the triblock copolymers P123 and F127 (EO20PO68EO20 and EO97PO68EO97, respectively) form micelles with a PPO core and a PEO corona. LÄS MER

  5. 5. In situ gelling drug delivery systems for periodontal anaesthesia

    Författare :Marie Scherlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis local anaesthetic formulations based on PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers (PEO and PPO being poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide), respectively) or nonionic cellulose ethers undergoing temperature- or dilution-induced thickening were investigated. The aim of the work was to develop formulations which can be easily administered to the periodontal pocket, stay at the application site, give a fast onset of anaesthesia and have a duration sufficient to perform periodontal scaling procedures.
