  1. 6. Improving the biocatalyst. Engineering of fungal oxidoreductases and thin-film electrodes for improvement of membraneless biofuel cells and carbohydrate biosensors

    Författare :Roberto Ortiz; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cellobiose dehydrogenase; pyranose dehydrogenase; biosensor; enzymatic biofuel cell; carbon nanotubes; gold nanoparticles; direct electron transfer; flow-injection analysis; diazonium salts; self-assembled monolayers;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents investigations for the improvement of electrical contact and catalytical properties of two fungal redox enzymes, cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), with electrodes and the use of the prepared electrodes as carbohydrate biosensors and in enzymatic biofuel cells. The performance of enzyme modified electrodes can be improved in two ways, by modifying the bioelement or by modifying the electrode. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Procedural and Declarative Memory in Children with Developmental Disorders of Language and Literacy

    Författare :Martina Hedenius; Margareta Jennische; Jonas Persson; Michael T Ullman; Elena Plante; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Specific Language Impairment; Developmental Dyslexia; Procedural memory; Declarative memory; Implicit sequence learning;

    Sammanfattning : The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) posits that a range of language, cognitive and motor impairments associated with specific language impairment (SLI) and developmental dyslexia (DD) may be explained by an underlying domain-general dysfunction of the procedural memory system. In contrast, declarative memory is hypothesized to remain intact and to play a compensatory role in the two disorders. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Development of Second and Third Generation Bioelectronics

    Författare :Federico Tasca; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; mediated electron transfer; direct electron transfer; tryptophan repressor-binding protein; diaphorase; pyranose oxidase; cellobiose dehydrogenase; pyranose dehydrogenase; biofuel cell; spectroelectrochemistry; single wall carbon nanotubes; bioelectronics.;

    Sammanfattning : The field of research dealing with the integration of biomolecules with electronic elements to form functional devices is called ‘‘bioelectronics’’. Bioelectronics based on mediated electron transfer (MET) between the biological element and the electrodes are designated as “second generation” while the one based on direct electron transfer (DET) is specified as “third generation”. 4. 9. Activation of CO2 by Palladium Complexes Bearing Tridentate PCP Ligands

    Författare :Roger Johansson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metallorganisk kemi; Organometallic chemistry; Kinetics; Insertion reactions; PCP ligands; CO2 activation; Palladium II complexes;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with the activation of CO2 by insertion reactions into palladium-carbon bonds. This has been realised for the complexes {2,6-bis[(di-t-butylphosphino)methyl]benzene}palladium(II)methyl [(PCP)PdMe] and (PCP)PdCH2CHCH2. These complexes have also been used in the catalytic carboxylation of ZnMe2 and Bu3SnCH2CHCH2. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Theoretical studies of collective electronic excitations in low-dimensional structures

    Författare :Zhe Yuan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linear atomic chains; hydrogen storage; nanodisks; dielectric response; surface plasmon resonances; electron gas model; electronic excitation; metallic thin films; time-dependent density functional theory;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade, nanoplasmonics and nanophotonicshas emerged as a new branch of nanosciences with many novelapplications. Central in this development is the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) tunable by the sizes and shapes at nanometer scale. LÄS MER
