  1. 16. Mapping the immune landscape in solid tumors : implications for immunotherapy

    Författare :Emelie Foord; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Our cells are programmed with various safety mechanisms to avoid transformation into tumor cells. In case these fail, we have a guarding immune system ready to recognize and eliminate these cells. Despite these safety measurements, cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The tumor cells find ways to escape the immune system. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Exploring the Genetics of SLE with Linkage and Association Analysis

    Författare :Cecilia Johansson; Marta Alarcón-Riquelme; Peter Gregersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; Systemic lupus erythematosus; complex disease; linkage analysis; association analysis; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis has been to identify genes involved in the pathogenesis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). SLE is a systemic autoimmune disorder, most likely caused by both several genetic and environmental factors. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Cancer associated fibroblasts and T cells in pancreatic cancer : an immune perspective

    Författare :Laia Gorchs; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : About 90% of pancreatic cancers are pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) and its deadly hallmarks, including a prominent fibrotic stroma, low mutational burden, lack of early diagnosis and rapid metastasis, contribute to trial failures and to the poor five-year overall survival rate of only 9%. Carcinoma associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are the most abundant cell type in the stroma of PDAC and their interactions with tumor cells leading to tumor progression have been extensively studied. 4. 19. Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells and Other Immune Escape Mechanisms in Chronic Leukemia

    Författare :Lisa Christiansson; Angelica S I Loskog; Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Andreas Lundqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic myeloid leukemia; myeloid-derived suppressor cells; sCD25; tyrosine kinase inhibitors; multiplex protein quantification; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by the Philadelphia chromosome, a minute chromosome that leads to the creation of the fusion gene BCR/ABL and the transcription of the fusion protein BCR/ABL in transformed cells. The constitutively active tyrosine kinase BCR/ABL confers enhanced proliferation and survival on leukemic cells. LÄS MER

  5. 20. T cells and chemokines in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Jonathan Aldridge; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; CD4 T cells; chemokines; disease activity; biomarker; CTLA-4Ig;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we investigated if circulating proportions of specific CD4+ T cell subsets and blood chemokine levels were associated with disease activity and/or could predict remission in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis (eRA). We also compared the effect of different biological treatments on both T cell subset proportions and chemokine levels. LÄS MER
