  1. 1. Prostasome Modulation of Blood Cascade System and Phosphoprotein Reactions with Focus on Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Adil Abdelgadir Babiker; Kristina Nilsson Ekdahl; Michael Wilson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; ATPase; CD59; Complement; DU145; Extracellular phosphorylation; LNCaP; PC-3; Prostasomes; Prostate cancer; Protein kinases; Tissue factor; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostasomes are extracellularly occurring submicron, membrane-surrounded organelles produced by the epithelial cells of the prostate and present in semen. Their precise physiological role is not known, although some of their properties assign them to important physiological and patho-physiological functions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Perspectives on the Biological Role of Human Prostasomes

    Författare :Lena Carlsson; Outi Hovatta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Prostasomes; cryopreservation; human spermatozoa; sperm motility; anti- prostasome antibodies; PC-3 cells; Bacillus megaterium; antibacterial; antisperm antibodies; complement activation; sperm agglutination; infertility; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostasomes are extracellularly occurring organelles which are secreted in human semen by the prostate gland. Prostasomes have several known biological activities, but their physiological function is still unclear. In this thesis some new aspects were studied on the biological role of the prostasomes. 3. 3. Some Characteristics of Human Prostasomes and Their Relationship to Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Göran Ronquist; Anders Larsson; Lena Carlsson; Alicia Llorente; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostasomes; prostate; prostate cancer; clusterin; antibodies; metastasis; exosomes; PC-3 cells; DNA vehicles; gene therapy; immunoblotting; mass spectrometry; agarose gel electrophoresis; vertebral metastasis.; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The secretory epithelial cells of the prostate gland use sophisticated vehicles named prostasomes to relay important information to sperm cells in semen. This prostasome-forming and secretory ability of the epithelial cells is also preserved in poorly differentiated prostate cancer cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cellular Effects of Cystatins

    Författare :Samar Hunaiti; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cystatin C; Cystatin D; Galectin-1; Puncta assay; HoloMonitor; Cancer cells; Apoptosis; Cathepsin C;

    Sammanfattning : The exact cellular functions of cystatins are still unknown, and the molecular mechanism leading to their internalization into cells is not yet fully understood. Commonly the cystatins are known to inhibit human lysosomal cysteine proteases (cysteine cathepsins) and it is supposed that this is their primary physiological role. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Replication-competent adenovirus 11p vector as a new oncolytic agent

    Författare :Jim Silver; Ya-Fang Mei; Gunnel Halldén; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Virologi; Adenovirus; Vector; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Human adenoviruses (Ads) as vectors have been studied for cancer gene therapy for several decades due to their ability to shut down host cell replication and lyse tumour cells. Ad5 of species C is commonly used as a replication-defective or a replication-competent vector. LÄS MER
