1. Interactions of satellite phage P4 with its helpers : P2 and WΦ phages
Sammanfattning : Bacteriophage P4 is a defective phage that needs a helper phage to grow lytically, since it lacks structural genes and genes encoding host cell lysis functions. P4 has the capacity to derepress the unrelated prophage P2, or its relatives after infection, thereby getting access to the late functions of the helper. LÄS MER
2. Studies on lipid transport and extracellular vesicle production in Caenorhabditis elegans ciliated neurons
Sammanfattning : The cilium is a protrusion of cell membrane. Both the protein and lipid contents of cilia are different from those of other parts of the cell membrane. While the transport of proteins into and out of cilia has been intensively studied, much less is known about how the lipid content of ciliary membranes is regulated. LÄS MER
3. Factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment in women with tubal infertility
Sammanfattning : In vitro fertilization embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is a well-established infertility treatment caused by damage of the fallopian tube, which is one of the largest diagnostic categories in most IVF programs. This study evaluates factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment: age, tubal damage grade, extent of reconstructive surgery, endocrine ovarian function and endometrial development. LÄS MER
4. The role of progesterone in the regulation of ciliary activity in the fallopian tube
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the distribution and regulation of membrane progesterone receptors (mPRs) that may be involved in regulating ciliary activity in the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube serves to transport the egg and spermatozoa to achieve fertilization. LÄS MER
5. Progesterone profiles, oestrus expression and pregnancy in dairy cows
Sammanfattning : The cow’s ability to reproduce is essential for milk production. Traditionally genetic evaluations for fertility have been based on measures on insemination- and calving dates, which in general are highly influenced by on-farm decisions. Unfortunately, the low heritability of classical fertility traits makes the genetic improvement slow. LÄS MER
