  1. 1. Estimation of Forest Biomass and Faraday Rotation Using Polarimetric L-/P-band SAR

    Författare :Gustaf Sandberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; linear regression; Remote sensing; forest biomass retrieval; P-band; synthetic aperture radar SAR ; calibration; L-band;

    Sammanfattning : At present the greatest source of uncertainty in the global carbon cycle is in the terrestrialecosystems. In order to reduce these uncertainties it is necessary to provide consistent andaccurate global estimates of the biomass contained in the forests of the world. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Model-Based Stem Volume Retrieval and Windthrow Detection using CARABAS and P-band SAR

    Författare :Klas Folkesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CARABAS; remote sensing; forest monitoring; model-based stem volume retrieval; image segmentation; synthetic aperture radar SAR ; P-band; windthrow detection;

    Sammanfattning : Radar remote sensing is an efficient method for monitoring forests over large areas. Radar waves transmitted from a system carried by a satellite or an aircraft interact with trees on the ground, and the reflected waves are used to form images which are independent of weather and light conditions. 3. 3. Characteristics of Vertical Forest Backscatter Profiles Measured using Radar Tomography

    Författare :Patrik Bennet; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forest remote sensing; L-band; above-ground biomass; P-band; vertical reflectivity profiles; radar tomography; temporal backscatter variations;

    Sammanfattning : Forests are an integral part of the Earth’s climate system, having shaped the conditions of life throughout millions of years, but the coverage and conditions of forests are under rapid change. To monitor this change and predict the impact on climate, yearly global mapping of forest Above-Ground Biomass (AGB) is needed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biomass Retrieval in Topographic Boreal Forest using Polarimetric and Tomographic SAR in P- and L-band

    Författare :Erik Blomberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Forest Biomass; Tomography; SAR; L-band; EM Modelling; P-Band;

    Sammanfattning : Forests and their associated habitats are an integral part of Earth's biosphere and provide essential environmental services. There is an ever present need for accurate and economic monitoring of forest parameters such as biomass - of great interest both locally, for forest management and resource utilization, and globally as it represents stored atmospheric CO2 and one of the largest uncertainties in climate modelling. 5. 5. Hydronic Heating Systems The Effect of Design on System Sensitivity

    Författare :Anders Trüschel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shunt group; controllability; district heating; room temperature; air heater; heating coil; thermal power output; deviations; water return temperature; valve group; hydronic heating; radiator system; P-band;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis starts from the recognition that a hydronic heating system can be optimised, but can never be totally perfect. Sooner or later, in practice, deviations - caused by one or more components having slightly different characteristics or settings than they are assumed or supposed to have - arise. LÄS MER
