21. Single and Accumulative Electron Transfer – Prerequisites for Artificial Photosynthesis
Sammanfattning : Photoinduced electron transfer is involved in a number of photochemical and photobiological processes. One example of this is photosynthesis, where the absorption of sunlight leads to the formation of charge-separated states by electron transfer. LÄS MER
22. Conducting Redox Polymers for Electrical Energy Storage : Backbone - Substituent Interactions in Quinone Polypyrrole Model Systems
Sammanfattning : Organic electrical energy storage (EES) is a growing field of research that is expected to play an important role in the future, as the need for sustainable EES increases. Conducting redox polymers (CRPs), i.e. conducting polymers with incorporated redox active moieties e. LÄS MER
23. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery. 24. Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients
Sammanfattning : Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients Background: Cardiac surgery is accompanied by inflammatory activation and bleeding complications. Fibrinogen is a key factor in the coagulation cascade and can be used to treat ongoing bleeding, but is not well studied as prophylactic treatment to prevent bleeding in patients with normal plasma fibrinogen levels or as a predictive tool to identify patients with increased bleeding risk. 25. Cutaneous melanoma in children and adolescents and aspects of naevus phenotype in melanoma risk assessment
Sammanfattning : Cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) is one of the most rapidly increasing cancers in the Swedish population. The aetiology of melanoma is a complex interplay between genetics, host characteristics and environmental factors. LÄS MER
