  1. 1. Ozone and diesel exhaust : airway signaling, inflammation and pollutant interactions

    Författare :Jenny Bosson; Anders Blomberg; Thomas Sandström; Ellinor Ädelroth; John Balmes; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; ozone; diesel exhaust; airway inflammation; asthma; immunohistochemistry; Lung diseases; Lungsjukdomar; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that air pollution has detrimental effects on both human health as well as the environment. Exposure to ozone and particulate matter pollution, is associated with an increase in cardiopulmonary mortality and morbidity. Asthmatics, elderly and children have been indicated as especially sensitive groups. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Study of Polar Ozone Depletion in the Lower Stratosphere. -Dynamical assimilation of O3 and N2O data from Odin/SMR and ENVISAT/MIPAS

    Författare :JOHN RÖSEVALL; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SMR; O3; stratosphere; Odin; data assimilation; transport modelling; atmosphere; NO2; ozone depletion; MIPAS;

    Sammanfattning : For more than 20 years, a hole in the ozone layer has formed each spring over Antarctica when sunlight returns to the polar region. Similar albeit far less extensive ozone destruction has also been observed in the Arctic polar vortex after colder than average winters. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regional and local surface ozone variations in relation to meteorological conditions in Sweden

    Författare :Lin Tang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LWTs; surface ozone; high-ozone events; long-range transport; TAPM; MM5; NOx-O3; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : Air quality is strongly dependent on meteorological conditions. Atmospheric circulation encapsulates general information about local meteorological variables to some extent, and can serve as an explanatory variable for air quality at a regional or local scale. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The influence of climate on ozone risk for vegetation

    Författare :Jenny Klingberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :local climate; topography; nocturnal temperature inversions; ozone spring peak; passive diffusion sampler; AOT40; stomatal ozone flux; stomatal conductance; phytotoxic ozone dose; EMEP; MATCH; RCA3; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : Ground-level ozone (O3) is a harmful air pollutant causing reduced crop yield and quality, reduced forest growth and negative effects on human health in large parts of the world. O3 is generally seen as a regional scale air pollution problem, but O3 concentration ([O3]) variation on a smaller geographical scale can be considerable. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On Numerical Tracer Advection in the Stratosphere and Assimilation of Data from Satellites

    Författare :JOHN RÖSEVALL; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratosphere; transport modelling; O3; ozone depletion; data assimilation;

    Sammanfattning : Since the early 1980's, large scale ozone depletion has been observed in the lower regions of the ozone layer over Antarctica when sunlight returns to the polar region in the early spring. The destruction of ozone is attributed to anthropogenic emissions of freon and halon compounds that have augmented the natural stratospheric concentrations of nonreactive Clx and Brx reservoir species with several hundred percent.
