  1. 1. Molecular Mechanisms Optimizing Photosynthesis during High Light Stress in Plants

    Författare :Lan Yin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; light stress; photosynthesis; chloroplast;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygenic photosynthesis is the process by which plants, algae and cyanobacteria use solar energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into molecular oxygen and carbohydrates. Photosynthesis sustains life on Earth since it provides not only energy for individual growth, but also represents the starting point of the food chain for most living organisms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Protein phosphorylation and proteolysis - regulation and adaptive responses in photosynthesis

    Författare :Jens Forsberg; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växtbiokemi; proteolysis; Plant biochemistry; protease; two-component systems; protein kinase; protein phosphorylation; state transitions; light-harvesting antenna; photosynthesis; chloroplast;

    Sammanfattning : Just as all other organisms, plants adapt to various environmental conditions. This work focuses on the role of chloroplast light harvesting complex II, LHCII, in adaptation of photosynthesis to changed light conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation of photosynthesis -Cytochrome b6f in redox regulation -Two novel proteases acting on an N-terminal peptide of LHCII

    Författare :Jörgen Ström; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi; cGEP; proteolysis; protease; protein phosphorylation; redox regulation; light-harvesting antenna; cytochrome b6f; chloroplast; Photosynthesis;

    Sammanfattning : In higher plants photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast. This work focuses on two different processes that effects photosynthesis. Firstly, we studied the events occurring prior to the phosphorylation of LHCII. Secondly, we also studied two novel proteases, with the potential to degrade LHCII. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Small Cab-like Proteins in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

    Författare :Miguel Angel Hernández-Prieto; Christiane Funk; Conrad Mullineaux; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; chlorophyll-binding proteins; tetrapyrrole biosynthesis; photodamage; non-photochemical quenching; SCPs; LHCII; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The Small Cab-like Proteins (SCPs) in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 accumulate in cells grown under different stress conditions. Genes coding for SCPs have been found in all sequenced organisms performing oxygenic photosynthesis and even in the genomes of cyanophages. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Functions of REP27 and the low molecular weight proteins PsbX and PsbW in repair and assembly of photosystem II

    Författare :Jose Gines Garcia Cerdan; Wolfgang Schröder; Eva-Mari Aro; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Photosynthesis; photosystem II reaction center; PSII-LHCII supercomplex; antisense plant; T-DNA knockout plant; auxiliary protein; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning :     Oxygenic photosynthesis is the major producer of both oxygen and organic compounds on earth and takes place in plants, green algae and cyanobacteria. The thylakoid membranes are the site of the photosynthetic light reactions that involve the concerted action of four major protein complexes known as photosystem II (PSII), cytochrome b6f complex, ATP synthase and photosystem I (PSI).
