  1. 16. Genetic factors in childhood cancer. Associations between tumors in childhood and adulthood, and prevalence of germline TP53 mutations

    Författare :Susanne Magnusson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood cancer; hereditary factors; breast cancer; survival; hereditary breast and ovarian cancer; hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer; familial malignant melanoma; BRCA1; BRCA2; mismatch repair; CDKN2A; familial risk; multiple childhood tumors; Li-Fraumeni syndrome; TP53; adrenocortical carcinoma; choroid plexus tumors; rhabdomyosarcoma;

    Sammanfattning : The etiology of childhood cancer is largely unknown. Approximately 1-10% of all childhood tumors are associated with known cancer predisposition syndromes. However, the contribution may be underestimated due to the failure to detect patients with genetic susceptibility for cancer when relying on known family pattern and anomalies. LÄS MER

  2. 17. On the genetics of hereditary breast/ovarian cancer. BRCA1, BRCA2 and beyond

    Författare :Annika Bergman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BRCA1; BRCA2; breast cancer; hereditary cancer; founder mutation; mutation analysis; linkage analysis; genome scan; BRCAX;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. Most of the breast cancers are sporadic with no apparent inheritance factor but about 5-10% is believed to be caused by an inherited predisposition. Aims: This thesis aimed at defining the BRCA1/2 mutation spectrum of the west Swedish population and specifically to characterize the BRCA1c. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The effect of intra-abdominal local anaesthetics following major gynaecological surgery. Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Jane M. Hayden; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Local anaesthetics; postoperative pain; hysterectomy; inflammation; ropivacaine toxicity; ovarian cancer; recovery; ovarian cancer cells;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Local anaesthetics (LA), in addition to inhibition of pain signalling, also have anti-inflammatory properties. In vitro studies have demonstrated anti-proliferative and cytotoxic effect of LAs on cancer cells when administered in therapeutic concentrations. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Immunohistochemical and molecular studies on ovarian cancer progression and prognosis

    Författare :Björn Nodin; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epithelial ovarian cancer; prognostic and predictive biomarkers; tissue microarrays; androgen receptor; RBM3; Chek1; Chek2; MCM3; Dachshund 2; SATB1; KRAS mutation;

    Sammanfattning : Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the most lethal malignancy of the female reproductive tract. Due to vague symptomatology, the majority of EOC patients are diagnosed in advanced clinical stages with poor survival rates, despite improvements in surgical techniques and the advent of targeted therapeutics. 5. 20. Radioimmunotherapy of experimental ovarian cancer with Astatine-211. An in vivo model for consolidation treatment in women

    Författare :Håkan Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Astatine-211; consolidating treatment; in vitro effects; monoclonal antaibodies; Mov18; ovarian cancer; radioimmunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : About 850 new cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed in Sweden every year. In 75 % of the patients the tumour has spread outside the ovaries. The standard treatment is surgery followed by six courses of combination chemotherapy. In spite of a very high frequency of clinical complete responses the 5-year survival is not satisfactory. LÄS MER
