21. Development of theoretical approaches for post-silicon information processing
Sammanfattning : Despite knowing the fundamental equations in most of the physics research areas, still there is an unceasing need for theoretical method development, thanks to the more and more challenging problems addressed by the research community. The investigation of post-silicon, non-classical information processing is one of the new and rapidly developing areas that requires tremendous amount of theoretical support, new understanding, and accurate theoretical predictions. 22. Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics in Superconducting Circuits
Sammanfattning : In the last two decades, the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics, that studies the interaction between superconducting qubits and 1-dimensional waveguides, has been of great interest. It provides a great potential to build quantum devices, which are important for quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum information. LÄS MER
23. First Determination of the Electric Charge of the Top Quark and Studies of the Top Quark Pair Background to New Physics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with experimental investigations of properties of the top quark and processes involving this particle. In the first part of the thesis, the first determination of the electric charge of the top quark is presented. LÄS MER
24. Solving the quantum scattering problem for systems of two and three charged particles
Sammanfattning : A rigorous formalism for solving the Coulomb scattering problem is presented in this thesis. The approach is based on splitting the interaction potential into a finite-range part and a long-range tail part. In this representation the scattering problem can be reformulated to one which is suitable for applying exterior complex scaling. LÄS MER
25. Developments toward a novel methodology for spent nuclear fuel verification
Sammanfattning : One of the tasks in nuclear safeguards is to regularly inspect spent nuclear fuel discharged from nuclear power reactors and verify the integrity of it, so that illegal removal and diversion of radioactive material can be promptly discovered. In the current project, which is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology and SCK CEN, a novel methodology for non-intrusive inspection of spent nuclear fuel is under development.
