1. Contributions to low-complexity digital filters
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we discuss design and implementation of low-complexity digital filters. Digital filters are key components in many digital signal processing (DSP) systems. Typical applications include interpolation, decimation, and noise suppression. The work presented in the thesis can be divided into four parts. LÄS MER
2. Counting solutions to Diophantine equations
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents various results concerning the density of rational and integral points on algebraic varieties. These results are proven with methods from analytic number theory as well as algebraic geometry. LÄS MER
3. Some aspects of hydrogen reduction of iron ore
Sammanfattning : Fines of hematite and magnetite were studied in the fluidized bed using a pure hydrogen atmosphere in the temperature range of 768 to 888 K. Hematite pellets were studied based on Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) experiments using hydrogen atmospheres containing 0–15 % pH2O, in the temperature range of 873 to 1173 K. LÄS MER
4. Type-II interband quantum dot photodetectors
Sammanfattning : Photon detectors based on single-crystalline materials are of great interest for high performance imaging applications due to their low noise and fast response. The major detector materials for sensing in the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) band (8-14 µm) are currently HgCdTe (MCT) and AlGaAs/GaAs quantum wells (QW) used in intraband-based quantum-well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). 5. Adatoms, Quasiparticles & Photons : The Multifaceted World of Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The experimental work presented in this thesis is based on a wide assortment of very advanced and highly sophisticated photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) techniques. The objective of the present study has been to reveal and understand the electronic structure and electron dynamics in a broad spectrum of materials, ranging from wide band gap oxides, via semiconductors along with metals, and finally high-temperature superconductors.
