  1. 1. Orthopaedic Patients with Lower Limb Vascular Injuries

    Författare :Karin Bernhoff; Martin Björck; Sari Ponzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular injuries in lower limbs are rare but serious events. If not detected and managed correctly and timely they can lead to permanent functional impairment and even limb loss. The increasing number of orthopaedic interventions, worldwide, makes awareness of this problem among orthopaedic surgeons important. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors and knee prosthesis surgery

    Författare :Andreas Meunier; Lars Good; Per Aspenberg; Tore Dalén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents; administration dosage; Arthroplasty; knee replacement; Surgical blood loss; Surgery; Cyclooxygenase inhibitors; Cyclooxygenase inhibitors; Fracture healing; Isoxazoles; Postoperative pain; Pyrazoles; Sulfonamides; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Adverse effects of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors on bone healing have previously been demonstrated in diaphyseal fracture models in animals. In spite of that, they are widely used as postoperative analgesics in orthopaedic surgery. After joint replacement, a bone repair process starts at the interface between bone and cement. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fixation of Spinal Implants : Clinical and Experimental Studies on the Effects of Hydroxyapatite Coating

    Författare :Bengt Sandén; Acke Ohlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Hydroxyapatite; pedicle screw; histomorphometry; fixation; radiolucent zones; screw loosening; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Loosening of implants is a frequent complication in orthopaedic surgery. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate hydroxyapatite coating of pedicle screws with mechanical and histological methods and to correlate the results with the radiological findings.Hydroxyapatite (HA) coating of pedicle screws was investigated in experimental studies in sheep. Sammanfattning : Biomarkers for organ damage and/or dysfuntion are used in almost all areas of medicine. The brain has eluded this technological development for some time. Recently, the S100B protein has been shown to be a promising marker of brain damage. However, before S100S can reach clinical reality, several problems must be solved. LÄS MER

  5. 5. ON ARTHRODESIS AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HUMAN ANKLE

    Författare :Thomas Anderson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Replacement; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; traumatologi; Kirurgi; ortopedi; Rheumatoid arthritis; Arthrodesis; Ankle;

    Sammanfattning : Of 30 primary ankle fusions in patients with osteoarthrosis, 25 ankles underwent clinical evaluation by two independent observers. In 29 cases, two independent radiologists, unanimously found 26 ankles to be radiographically fused, and three not fused. The consistency between the two orthopaedic surgeons evaluations was somewhat lower. LÄS MER
