  1. 6. Healthcare Priority Setting and Rare Diseases : What Matters When Reimbursing Orphan Drugs

    Författare :Johanna Wiss; Gustav Tinghög; Per Carlsson; Lars-Åke Levin; Ann-Charlotte Nedlund; Joanna Coast; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The rarity of a disease can give rise to challenges that differ from conventional diseases. For example, rarity hampers research and development of new drugs, and patients with severe, rare diseases have limited access to qualified treatments. When drugs are available, clinical evidence has higher uncertainty and the drugs can be very expensive. LÄS MER

  2. 7. On-line Mobile in situ Gamma Spectrometry

    Författare :Thomas Hjerpe; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiobiologi; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; radiation protection.; 137Cs; peak-to-valley method; depth distribution; orphan source search; orphan sources; emergency preparedness; mobile gamma spectrometry; nuclear accidents; Nuclear medicine; radiobiology; Nukleärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Mobile in situ gamma spectrometry is an important instrument in the emergency preparedness for nuclear accidents. This work contributes through the development of strategies and analysis methods for two applications: an on-line search for gamma-emitting orphan sources and on-line estimation of the depth distribution of 137Cs. 3. 8. Studies on the atypical orphan receptor SHP

    Författare :Lotta Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) comprise the largest family of transcription factors in eukaryotes and play critical roles in nearly every aspect of vertebrate development and adult physiology. In general, they function as transcriptional regulators that when bound to DNA either activate or suppress target gene expression. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Assessment of mobile radiometry data in radiological emergencies using Bayesian statistical methods

    Författare :Antanas Bukartas; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mobile gamma spectrometry; Gamma spectrometry; Orphan source; lost source; Ionizing radiation; Bayesian; Activity; position; activity density; reconstruction; UAV; car-borne;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear technology and the use of radiation sources have been extensively adopted in the modern world. Despite that, a number of radiological accidents, significantly affecting population and the environment, has happened. Few of the most known are accidents in Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power plants. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Intrinsic disorder and tandem repeats - match made in evolution : Computational studies of molecular evolution

    Författare :Oxana Lundström; Arne Elofsson; Liberles-Siltberg Jessica; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein evolution; intrinsically disordered proteins IDPs ; tandem repeats; short tandem repeats STRs ; genetic variation; orphan proteins; GC content; human STR variation; colorectal cancer; gene expression; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are both the building blocks and workers of the cell, carrying out most of the important functions. For a long time, their structure has been regarded as the primary factor for their function, but intrinsically disordered proteins demonstrate an alternative to this paradigm. LÄS MER
