  1. 1. Decoding the Structural Layer of Transcriptional Regulation : Computational Analyses of Chromatin and Chromosomal Aberrations

    Författare :Robin Andersson; Jan Komorowski; Jan Dumanski; Claes Wadelius; Anders Krogh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chromatin; Nucleosome positioning; Histone modifications; Chromosomal aberrations; Transcriptional regulation; Array-CGH; Next generation sequencing; ChIP-chip; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Gene activity is regulated at two separate layers. Through structural and chemical properties of DNA – the primary layer of encoding – local signatures may enable, or disable, the binding of proteins or complexes of them with regulatory potential to the DNA. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nuclear Organization of Gene Expression in Adenovirus Infected Cells

    Författare :Anders Aspegren; Lars Wieslander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Adenovirus; mRNA; transport; IGCs; E434kDa; E1B55kDa; NES; snRNP; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Adenovirus infected cells provide a good model system for studying nuclear organization during RNA production and transport. This thesis is focused on the dynamic organization of splicing factors during the late phase of Adenovirus infection in HeLa cells, the nuclear localization of viral RNA, and the pathway used for viral RNA transport to the cytoplasm. 3. 3. Pre-mRNA processing in the polytene nuclei of chironomus tentans

    Författare :Göran Baurén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Pre-mRNA processing; Organization of splicing factors; Cotranscriptionalsplicing; Transcription termination; Chironomus tentans; Polytene nuclei.;

    Sammanfattning : Gene expression of protein encoding genes in eukaryotic cells requires extensive intranuclear maturation processing of the transcribed pre-mRNA. Three such processes are known to occur. The 5' end is capped and the 3' end is determined by cleavage and polyadenylation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Chromatin Remodeling by BRG1 and SNF2H : Biochemistry and Function

    Författare :Patrik Asp; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Anthony Imbalzano; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin; chromatin remodeling; SWI SNF; ISWI; BRG1; SNF2H; Prp8; RNA; transcription; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Chromatin is a highly dynamic, regulatory component in the process of transcription, repair, recombination and replication. The BRG1 and SNF2H proteins are ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling proteins that modulate chromatin structure to regulate DNA accessibility for DNA-binding proteins involved in these processes.
