  1. 1. Mineralisation rates of natural organic matter in surface sediments affected by physical forces

    Författare :Carina Ståhlberg; Bo Svensson; Lars Rahm; David Bastviken; Anders Tengberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sediment; Organic matter mineralisation; Organic matter degradation; Redox; Electron acceptor; Resuspension; Advective pore water flow; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Nedbrytning av organiskt material är en nyckelfaktor som påverkar omvandlingar av de många grundämnen som utgör eller är associerade till just organiskt material. En stor del av nedbrytningen av akvatiskt organiskt material (OM) sker i gränsskiktet mellan sediment och vatten. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nutrient and Organic Matter Dynamics in Beech Forest Floors, in Relation to the Presence of Ground Flora

    Författare :Frida Andréasson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioavailability; mineralisation; soil acidity; soil matrix solution; soil leachate; nitrate; ammonia; dissolved organic carbon; beech; Ground flora; forest floor; O horizon; A horizon; Plant ecology; Växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to quantify differences between adjacent patches with and without ground flora of Deschampsia flexuosa L. Trin or Anemone nemorosa L. in two acid European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forest floors in south-west of Sweden. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Strategic nitrogen management in stockless organic cropping systems : redistribution of residual biomass for improved energy and nitrogen balance

    Författare :Tora Råberg; Sweden SLU; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; bioenergy; biomass management; crop rotation; ecological intensification; green manure; life cycle assessment; nitrogen cycling; organic agriculture; soil incubation; stockless cropping systems;

    Sammanfattning : Agriculture faces the challenge of producing high yields to feed a growing world population, while simultaneously addressing environmental problems such as eutrophication, emissions of greenhouse gases, loss of biodiversity and soil degradation. Organic farming can be part of the solution, as it promotes biodiversity, uses less energy for fertiliser production and often has higher inputs of organic matter to soil than conventional farming. Författare :Tora Råberg; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; bioenergy; biomass management; crop rotation; ecological intensification; green manure; life cycle assessment; nitrogen cycling; organic agriculture; soil incubation; stockless cropping systems;

    Sammanfattning : A griculture faces the challenge of producing high yields to feed a growing world population, while simultaneously addressing environmental problems such as eutrophication, emissions of greenhouse gases, loss of biodiversity and soil degradation. 5. 5. Bacterial and fungal growth in soil: The effect of temperature and substrate addition

    Författare :Stephanie Reischke; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bacterial growth; Fungal growth; Respiration; Carbon loading; Glucose mineralisation; Temperature adaptation; Temperature sensitivity; Temperature dependence;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria and fungi are the main agents in decomposition of soil organic matter. Their activity is determined by the availability and quality of substrate, especially its content of carbon, but also nitrogen and phosphorus. Other environmental factors, which affect the activity of the microbial community in soil, are temperature, moisture and pH. LÄS MER
