  1. 16. Human ovarian surface epithelium and ovarian cancer. Aspects of growth regulation

    Författare :Karin Ivarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ovarian cancer ovarian surface epithelium interleukin-8 C EBP gonadotropins steroids;

    Sammanfattning : The ovary is covered with a single layer of epithelial cells, the ovarian surface epithelium (OSE). The OSE is degraded during every menstrual cycle to enable ovulation, and is subsequently reconstituted to cover the rupture site. This single cell layer is proposed as the origin for about 90 % of all ovarian cancers. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Immunological tolerance to antigens in the intestine

    Författare :Malin Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rat; oral tolerance; serum factor; normal gut flora; exosomes;

    Sammanfattning : The major part of the immune system is found in the epithelium and lamina propria of the gut. The distribution of the leukocytes is structured probably because the immune system has to distinguish between harmful microorganisms, food antigens and the normal gut flora. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The role of exosomes and microflora in establishing mucosal tolerance and the protection against allergic disease

    Författare :Nina Almqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :oral tolerance; exosomes; allergy;

    Sammanfattning : The role of exosomes and microflora in establishing mucosal tolerance and the protection against allergic disease Nina Almqvist, Departement of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, The Sahlgrenska Academy University of Gothenburg, Guldhedsgatan 10A, 413 46 Göteborg, Sweden The breakdown of immune regulation to innocuous environmental antigens at mucosal sites can result in a number of different diseases such as, allergies and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Allergy is one of the most common diseases with a prevalence of up to 40% in children from developed countries. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On the regulation of immune responses to dietary and self antigens

    Författare :Susanne Lindgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tolerance; regulatory T cells; self antigens; oral tolerance; dietary antigens; intestinal epithelial cells; exosomes; Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin A;

    Sammanfattning : Regulatory mechanisms are necessary to avoid the misdirected aggressive immune responses responsible for the pathology seen in autoimmunity and allergy. Thymic-derived CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells are indispensible for this regulation. We investigated if CD4+CD25+ Treg prevents auto-reactive responses in adult peripheral blood and cord blood. 5. 20. New Approaches to Studies of Paracellular Drug Transport in Intestinal Epithelial Cell Monolayers

    Författare :Staffan Tavelin; Per Artursson; Staffan Tavelin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; intestinal epithelium; tight junctions; cell culture; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Studies of intestinal drug permeability have traditionally been performed in the colon-derived Caco-2 cell model. However, the permeability of these cell monolayers resembles that of the colon rather than that of the small intestine, which is the major site of drug absorption following oral administration.
