  1. 1. On bone quality and implant stability measurements

    Författare :Bertil Friberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; early failures; titanium implants; jaw bone quality; jaw bone volume; cutting torque; implant stability; resonance frequency; one-stage surgery;

    Sammanfattning : In conjuction with placement of oral implants, the jaw bone quality assessment is mainly based on quantitative radiographic measures and the subjective opinion of the performing surgeon. While the primary implant stability is discussed in terms of the pre-set motor torque and the subjective hand-felt perception during final tightening of implants, the secondary stability is defined as the absence of implant mobility. 2. 2. Haptic and visual simulation of material cutting process : a study focused on bone surgery and the use of simulators for education and training

    Författare :Magnus G. Eriksson; Jan Wikander; Ingela Nyström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; surgical simulation; virtual reality; haptic feedback; surgical training; medical simulators; metrics; 3D visualization; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : A prototype of a haptic and virtual reality simulator has been developed for simulation of the bone milling and material removal process occurring in several operations, e.g. temporal bone surgery or dental milling. The milling phase of an operation is difficult, safety critical and very time consuming. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The fixation of joint prostheses. Aspects on mechanics and biology

    Författare :Ulrik Hansson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; histology; interface; micromotion; knee; joint replacement;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: In the interface, between implant and bone or between the cement and bone, there will develop some amount of fibrous tissue. The synovial fluid, the synovium, the cartilage and the subchondral bone from the non-replaced knee compartment that had been exposed to wear particles were studied by histological analyses. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Motion analysis of the knee : kinematic artifacts, EMG normalisation and joint forces

    Författare :Daniel L Benoit; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Knee; tibiofemoral joint; kinematics; anterior cruciate ligament; ACL; bone pin; markers; neuromuscular adaptation; electromyography; normalisation; skin movement artifact; joint forces; ski injury; ski boot;

    Sammanfattning : The non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is the most common and serious debilitating knee joint injury in male and female athletes. To create an ACL injury paradigm that will lead to improved treatment and prevention it is necessary to understand how ACL injuries occur. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The double axe in Minoan Crete : a functional analysis of production and use

    Författare :Maria Lowe Fri; Charlotte Scheffer; Lena Sjögren; Doniert Evely; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Bronze Age Crete; Minoan period; double axe; casting; casting defects; finishing treatment; experimental archaeology; use-wear; use; user; Archaeology; classical; Arkeologi; klassisk; antikens kultur och samhällsliv; Classical Archaeology and Ancient History;

    Sammanfattning : This study examines the production and use of Minoan double axes with the aim of finding out what working activities they were used for. The double axe has earlier been associated with a woodworker, a carpenter, a stonemason and a butcher. LÄS MER
