1. On the influence of dopamine-related genetic variation on dopamine-related disorders
Sammanfattning : Rationale: Dopamine synthesizing neurons are involved in a wide variety of functions. The most prominent dopamine pathways originate in the midbrain. The development, function and survival of these dopaminergic neurons are under the influence of numerous transcription and neurotrophic factors. LÄS MER
2. A Theoretical Study of Magnetism in Nanostructured Materials
Sammanfattning : A first-principles linear scaling real-space method for investigating non-collinear magnetic behaviour of nanostructured materials has been developed. With this method, the magnetic structures of small supported transition metal clusters have been examined. LÄS MER
3. Samtal i butik : Språklig interaktion melllan biträden och kunder
Sammanfattning : The subject of this study is language use in a special type of social activity: the exchange of goods, services and information in a commercial setting. The main aim is to gain an understanding of the work that shop assistants perform using language. In the analysis, the focus is on verbal routine work. LÄS MER
4. Electronic structure and exchange interactions from ab initio theory : New perspectives and implementations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the magnetic properties of several materials were investigated using first principle calculations. The ab initio method named real space linear muffin-tin orbitals atomic sphere approximation (RS-LMTO-ASA) was used to calculate the electronic structure and magnetic properties of bulk systems, surface and nanostructures adsorbed on surfaces. 5. Atomistic spin dynamics and relativistic effects in chiral nanomagnets
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, studies based on magnetization dynamics on atomic length scales are presented for a number of magnetic systems, where Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction is present. First-principle methods, based on density functional theory (DFT), have been used to study the pairwise magnetic interactions, such as Heisenberg exchange and DM interaction, which are the crucial parameters for the helimagnetic systems.
