  1. 16. Entrained-Flow Gasification of Black Liquor and Pyrolysis Oil : Experimental and Equilibrium Modelling Studies of Catalytic Co-gasification

    Författare :Yawer Jafri; Rikard Gebart; Martin Seemann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Black liquor; pyrolysis oil; catalytic gasification; co-gasification; gasification; entrained-flow gasification; pilot-scale; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The last couple of decades have seen entrained-flow gasification of black liquor (BL) undergo an incremental process of technical development as an alternative to combustion in a recovery boiler. The ability of the technology to combine chemical recovery with the production of clean syngas renders it a promising candidate for the transformation of chemical pulp mills into integrated forest biorefineries. 2. 17. Conversion processes for biofuel production

    Författare :Jerry Luis Solis; Yohannes Kiros; Mohammad Taherzadeh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Second-generation biofuels; biodiesel; heterogeneous catalysts; non-edible oils; ethanol; residual biomass; native yeast strains.; Andra generationens biobränslen; biodiesel; heterogena katalysatorer; oätliga oljor; etanol; rester av biomassa; naturliga jäststammar; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the global positive impacts of soybean-, maize- and sugarcane-based (first-generation) liquid biofuels, several drawbacks pertaining to increased use of agricultural land, causing deforestation in some countries and extensive practice of fertilizers have been observed. As a result, developing advanced (second- and third-generation) liquid biofuels have been identified as better alternatives and are considered to be of great importance in the future. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Modelling Climate Policy – Trade-Off Metrics, Resource Markets, and Uncertainty

    Författare :Daniel Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPEC; GWP; energy; uncertainty; biomass; climate change; oil; land use; greenhouse gases; Kyoto Protocol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers related to climate change policy. In paper I andpaper II we discuss the use of Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) that facilitate the tradeoffbetween abatement of the different greenhouse gases (GHGs). LÄS MER

  4. 19. Essays on African Growth, Productivity, and Trade

    Författare :Ludvig Söderling; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ekonomiska system; ekonomisk teori; ekonometri; Nationalekonomi; Africa; economic policy; economic systems; economic theory; econometrics; Economics; trade; gravity model; general equilibrium model; oil; diversification; Dutch disease; productivity; ekonomisk politik; International commerce; Internationell ekonomi; Economics of development; Utvecklingsekonomi; growth;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis comprises an introductory chapter and four research papers. The introductory chapter provides a brief overview of recent economic growth performance in Africa, places the individual papers into a coherent context, summarizes the main findings, and discusses their relevance for economic policy. 5. 20. Properties of Asphaltenes with emphasis on NMR self-diffusion as the investigating technique

    Författare :Jenny-Ann Östlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amphiphilic; diffusion; oil; mixture analysis; CORE; stability; NMR; pulsed gradient spin echo; light scattering; XPS; asphaltene; chemical interactions;

    Sammanfattning : Asphaltenes are high-molecular weight, highly aromatic molecules that have a strong tendency to aggregate. Asphaltenes are found in oil and may, if they form particles, cause problems during oil production and handling. LÄS MER
