1. Narrow-pore zeolites and zeolite-like adsorbents for CO2 separation
Sammanfattning : A range of porous solid adsorbents were synthesised and their ability to separate and capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from gas mixtures was examined. CO2 separation from flue gas – a type of exhaust gas from fossil fuel combustion that consists of CO2 mixed with mainly nitrogen and biogas (consists of CO2 mixed with mainly methane) were explicitly considered. 2. Design and Optimization of CO2 sorbents for Point Source Emissions and Direct Air Capture
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a comprehensive study on the design and optimization of CO2 sorbents, targeting two distinct applications: CO2 capture from point source emissions and Direct Air Capture (DAC). The research first introduces Na2HfO3 as a potential CO2 sorbent for point source emissions, using the molten salt effects of Na2CO3 and the thermal stability of HfO2. LÄS MER
3. Porous Amorphous Calcium Carbonate and Phosphate : Synthesis and Application
Sammanfattning : The synthesis of porous amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and porous amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) was developed in this thesis. Porous ACC with specific Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of >350 m2/g was synthesized using a surfactant free approach. The high surface area of porous ACC was related to its nanostructure. 4. Selective laser sintering for 3D printing of medications
Sammanfattning : Suboptimal treatment caused by inaccurate dosing of prescribed medications is a challenging issue for the pharmaceutical industry. As a result, certain groups of patients, especially pediatric patients, may suffer from a lack of specific dosage forms, leading to potential side effects. LÄS MER
5. Development of Nanoporous Inorganic Carbonates for Pharmaceutical and Environmental Applications
Sammanfattning : Mesoporous magnesium carbonate (MMC) is a highly porous, anhydrous material which can be synthesized without the use of templates. This thesis shows how post- and in synthesis modification of MMC can create porous inorganic carbonates suitable for different pharmaceutical and environmental applications. LÄS MER
