1. The reinforcement learning method : A feasible and sustainable control strategy for efficient occupant-centred building operation in smart cities
Sammanfattning : Over half of the world’s population lives in urban areas, a trend which is expected to only grow as we move further into the future. With this increasing trend in urbanisation, challenges are presented in the form of the management of urban infrastructure systems. LÄS MER
2. On the Feasibility of Reinforcement Learning in Single- and Multi-Agent Systems : The Cases of Indoor Climate and Prosumer Electricity Trading Communities
Sammanfattning : Over half of the world’s population live in urban areas, a trend which is expected to only grow as we move further into the future. With this increasing trend in urbanisation, challenges are presented in the form of the management of urban infrastructure systems. LÄS MER
3. Supporting evidence-based design using lighting simulations : A framework for lighting simulation of visual comfort in building design
Sammanfattning : This research aims to integrate lighting simulation into the evidence-based design process for achieving improved lighting outcomes in built environments with a particular emphasis on visual comfort analysis in office settings. The objectives of the study include 1) understanding the current usage of lighting simulation tools, learning designers’ experiences' and needs, 2) providing a conceptual framework to integrate the use of lighting simulation in the evidence-based design (EBD) process, 3) testing the usage of the conceptual framework (named EBD-SIM) through two field studies. 4. The Physical Environment and Occupant Thermal Perceptions in Office Buildings An Evaluation of Sampled Data from Five European Countries
Sammanfattning : The results from a large field study of thermal comfort in European office buildings are reported. Measurements of physical environmental conditions and occupant perceptions were collected over sixteen months from twenty-six different office buildings located in France, Greece, Portugal, Sweden and the UK. 5. Experimental study of an intermittent ventilation system in high occupancy spaces
Sammanfattning : Spaces with high occupancy density like classrooms are challenging to ventilate and use a lot of energy to maintain comfort. Usually, a compromise is made between low energy use and good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), of which poor IEQ has consequences for occupants’ health, productivity and comfort. LÄS MER
