6. Computational modelling of machining - Mesh objective ductile damage modelling
Sammanfattning : AbstractTo strengthen the competitiveness the manufacturing industry strives for a continuousdevelopment of cost efficient manufacturing processes and improved product quality. These research and development issues are addressed by increasing the implementationof simulation tools based on finite element method (FEM). 7. Dagens Gennyheter : Hur massmedier berättar om genetik och genteknik
Sammanfattning : During the 1990’s gene technology got a break-through – both as a science and in people’s consciousness. Media reported frequently about scientific breakthroughs. LÄS MER
8. Energy Quality Management for Building Clusters and Districts Using a Multi-Objective Optimization Approach
Sammanfattning : As society develops, energy needs and the warnings of global warming have become main areas of focus in many areas of human life. One such aspect, the building sector, needs to take responsibility for a significant portion of energy use. Researchers need to concentrate on applying innovative methods for controlling the growth of energy use. LÄS MER
9. Evolutionary Materialism: Towards a Theory of Anticipatory Adaptive Assemblages
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation into how meta-heuristic multi-objective optimisation processes (genetic algorithms driven by evolutionary solvers) can bring about materials-related advantages in architectural performance. It redefines the architect’s and engineer’s role from being designers of a singular space or structure to being designers of entire species of spaces, and discusses a particular method – anticipatory adaptive assemblages (AAA) – that allows such processes to produce many generations of design iterations that eventually yield individuals optimised for a set of predefined objectives. 10. The Balance of Meaning : Exploring the possibility of a recognition-transcendent meaning of religious and existentially important terms
Sammanfattning : Can we be mistaken or ignorant about the meaning of our own words? This dissertation explores this question. More specifically it investigates to what extent and in what sense, if at all, the semantic meaning of religious and existentially important words – like ‘God’, ‘friendship’, ‘justice’ or ‘life’ – can be recognition-transcendent to the competent user of them.
