    Sammanfattning : The focal point of all papers in this thesis is income inequality in Chile. In some of them household income is analyzed, in others monthly earnings or the wage rate are used.     Sammanfattning : Essay I, co-authored with Bertil Holmlund and Oskar Nordström Skans, offers evidence on how delayed transitions to higher education (“gap years”) affect subsequent earnings and lifetime earnings. We exploit rich Swedish register data and find that postponement of higher education is associated with a persistent and non-trivial earnings penalty. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Background: Along with the austerity measures introduced in many countries, the economic crisis affecting Europe since 2008 seems to have impacted many aspects of the health of the Spanish population and has had a negative effect on the provision health services. An increasing body of knowledge has shown a clear impact of the current crisis on suicidal behaviour and mental health, and a less consistent effect on physical health and access to healthcare.
