  1. 11. ATP-Binding Cassette Efflux Transporters and Passive Membrane Permeability in Drug Absorption and Disposition

    Författare :Pär Matsson; Per Artursson; Ulf Norinder; Peter Swaan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutics; ATP-binding cassette; ABC transporter; P-gp; P-glycoprotein; ABCB1; BCRP; Breast cancer resistance protein; ABCG2; MRP2; Multidrug-resistance associated protein 2; ABCC2; Membrane permeability; Drug transport; Active transport; Passive diffusion; Multivariate data analysis; PLS; OPLS; QSAR; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Transport into and across the cells of the human body is a prerequisite for the pharmacological action of drugs. Passive membrane permeability and active transport mechanisms are major determinants of the intestinal absorption of drugs, as well as of the distribution to target tissues and the subsequent metabolism and excretion from the body. 2. 12. ATP-Binding-Cassette Transporters in Biliary Efflux and Drug-Induced Liver Injury

    Författare :Jenny M. Pedersen; Per Artursson; Christel A. S. Bergström; Stefan Oswald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ABC transport protein; Pgp; P-glycoprotein; ABCB1; BCRP; breast cancer resistance protein; ABCG2; MRP2; multidrug resistance-associated protein 2; ABCC2; BSEP; bile salt export pump; ABCB11; sandwich cultured human hepatocytes; SCHH; drug-induced liver injury; DILI; multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane transport proteins are known to influence the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of drugs. At the onset of this thesis work, only a few structure-activity models, in general describing P-glycoprotein (Pgp/ABCB1) interactions, were developed using small datasets with little structural diversity. 3. 13. Cardiac hypertrophy : transcription patterns, hypertrophic progression and extracellular signalling

    Författare :Nina Gennebäck; Stellan Mörner; Anders Waldenström; Urban Hellman; Ali J Marian; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac hypertrophy; HCM; gene expression; OPLS-DA; multivariate dataanalysis; cardiomyocytes; exosomes; microvesicles; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of this thesis was to study transcription patterns and extracellular signalling of the hypertrophic heart to better understand the mechanisms initiating, controlling and maintaining cardiac hypertrophy.Cardiac hypertrophy is a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. 4. 14. Stress response in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

    Författare :Helder Miranda; Christiane Funk; Hans-Erik Åkerlund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; High light; heat stress; ROS; Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; Deg HtrA proteases; small CAB-like proteins; Refraction-2D™; MALDI-TOF; 2D-gel; GC-MS; PCA; OPLS-DA; EPS; S-layer; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Adaptation to environmental changes is important for the survival of living organisms. Under extreme abiotic conditions, organic molecules (such as lipids, proteins and nucleic acids) are prone to damage. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Proteomics and metabolomics in biological and medical applications

    Författare :Liudmila Shiryaeva; Wolfgang P. Schröder; Pernilla Wikström; Peter Roepstroff; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 2D-DIGE; biomarkers; cold-acclimation; conifer; freezing tolerance; GC-MS; metabolomics; multiple hypothesis test; multivariate analysis; OPLS-DA; Picea obovata; plasma; prostate cancer; proteomics; ProteoMiner; Siberian spruce;

    Sammanfattning : Biological processes in living organisms consist of a vast number of different molecular networks and interactions, which are complex and often hidden from our understanding. This work is focused on recovery of such details for two quite distant examples: acclimation to extreme freezing tolerance in Siberian spruce (Picea obovata) and detection of proteins associated with prostate cancer.
