  1. 1. One Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury is enough! : Focus on female football players

    Författare :Anne Fältström; Joanna Kvist; Martin Hägglund; Grethe Myklebust; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is a severe and common injury, and females have 2-4 times higher injury risk compared to men. Return to sport (RTS) is a common goal after an ACL reconstruction (ACLR), but only about two thirds of patients RTS. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Acute anterior cruciate ligament injuries : evaluation of surgical och non-surgical treatment

    Författare :A. Christer Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : This study comprising 6 separate papers is concerned with the treatment of patients with acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The aim was to compare primary surgical and non-surgical ACL treatment. Treatment was, therefore, instituted at random in all consecutive patients (n = 293) with ACL injury. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Knee joint laxity and kinematics after anterior cruciate ligament rupture : roentgen stereophotogrammetric and clinical evaluation before and after treatment

    Författare :Håkan Jonsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anterior cruciate ligament; Kinematics; Anterior-posterior laxity; Surgery; Roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis; Muscle strength; Functional tests;

    Sammanfattning : Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) increases anterior-posterior (AP) laxity. The treatment aims to reduce or teach the patient to control this instability. Altered kinematics due to absent ligament function may result in knee arthrosis. This study evaluated the clinical and functional results of reconstructive surgery. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Chronic anterior cruciate ligament tear : knee function and knee extensor muscle size, morphology and function before and after surgical reconstruction

    Författare :Lars-Gunnar Elmqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; knee joint; ligaments; articular; surgery; muscle fibre; isokinetics; exercise therapy; muscular atrophy; electromyography;

    Sammanfattning : Knee function was evaluated by knee score, activity level, clinical findings and performance tests, muscle size by computerized tomography (CT), morphology by light (LM) and electron microscopy (EM), muscle function by electromyography (EMG) and isokinetic performance in 29 patients with chronic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. Preoperatively CT disclosed a significant mean atrophy of the quadriceps and nonsignificant changes of the other muscle areas of the injured leg. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Dynamic knee stability after anterior cruciate ligament injury : Emphasis on rehabilitation

    Författare :Sofi Tagesson (Sonesson); Joanna Kvist; Birgitta Öberg; Suzanne Werner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rehabilitation; anterior cruciate ligament; knee joint; joint instability; muscle strength; electromyography; ACL reconstruction; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Anterior cruciate ligament injury leads to increased sagittal tibial translation, and perceptions of instability and low confidence in the knee joint are common. Many patients have remaining problems despite treatment and are forced to lower their activity level and prematurely end their career in sports. LÄS MER
