Sammanfattning : This thesis describes certain areas in the grammar of the little-known Kuot language, spoken by some 1,500 people in New Ireland Province in Papua New Guinea. Kuot is an isolate, and is the only non-Austronesian (Papuan) language of that province. The analyses presented here are based on original data from 18 months of linguistic fieldwork. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The two genetically related human lentiviruses known today, HIV-1 (which is pandemic) and HIV-2 (which mainly is confined to West Africa), are the causative agents of AIDS. Progressive immune dysfunction and AIDS develop in most cases of untreated HIV-1 infection, but only in approximately 25-30% of HIV-2 infected individuals. LÄS MER
5. Regulation of spontaneous tone in guinea pig trachea
Sammanfattning : Asthma is a common disease, characterized by periods of bronchoconstriction of unclear origin. This thesis examines a specific behavior of airway smooth muscle, the so-called spontaneous airway tone. It was suspected that a defect regulation of this tone may be a cause of asthmatic bronchoconstriction. LÄS MER
