  1. 6. A numerical study of two-fluid models for dispersed two-phase flow

    Författare :Reynir Levi Gudmundsson; Björn Sjögreen; Anders Petersson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical analysis; two-phase flow; two-fluid mode; well-posedness; numerical experiments; Numerisk analys; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the two-fluid (Eulerian/Eulerian) formulation for dispersed two-phase flow is considered. Closure laws are needed for this type of models. We investigate both empirically based relations, which we refer to as a nongranular model, and relations obtained from kinetic theory of dense gases, which we refer to as a granular model. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Numerical Methods for Fluid Interface Problems

    Författare :Sara Zahedi; Gunilla Kreiss; Ragnar Winther; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns numerical techniques for two phase flowsimulations; the two phases are immiscible and incompressible fluids. Strategies for accurate simulations are suggested. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Time Domain Boundary Element Methods for Acoustic Scattering

    Författare :Georgios Natsiopoulos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; time domain; curved surface; room acoustics; boss model; boundary element method; regularization; transient; Hermite interpolation; hypersingular; acoustic scattering; vector potential;

    Sammanfattning : In room acoustics, numerical computation of scattering phenomena is an important subject, since it is needed to accurately predict the influence of reflectors, the audience, balconies, etc, on the perceived acoustic quality of auditoria. The large physical volumes of auditoria and the wide frequency content of music and speech, together with the complicated geometries involved however, makes predictions in room acoustics a challenging task from a computational point of view. 4. 9. Input Estimation in Structural Dynamics

    Författare :Lars Nordström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensitivity analysis; dynamic programming; input estimation; load identification; ill-posedness; regularization; indirect force measurement; inverse problems;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of time-varying excitation is of importance in the design of a wide range of engineering applications, from spacecraft and processing plants to electronic circuits. Regardless of the actual application or underlying physics, the expected input will play a key role in the determination of adequate system properties and parameters. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Time Domain Methods for Load Identification of Linear and Nonlinear Systems

    Författare :Patrik Nordberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inverse problem; ill-conditioning; upper block triangular Toeplitz matrix; regularization; wavelet parameterization; least squares problem; input estimation; time domain; linear and nonlinear systems; load identification;

    Sammanfattning : The automotive industry faces an increasing demand for virtual prototyping to simulate the operation conditions of vehicles and subsystems. Each component, as well as the complete vehicle, must meet the desired design requirements in a time- and cost-efficient development process. LÄS MER
