2. Safety Reviews of Technical System Modifications in the Nuclear Industry
Sammanfattning : The function of safety reviews (here understood as expert judgements on proposals for design modifications and redesign of technical systems in commercial Nuclear Power Plants, supported by formalised safety review processes) plays a fundamental role for safety in nuclear installations. The primary aims of the presented case studies includes: critically examining and identifying the main areas for improvement of the existing technical safety review process as it is conducted at a Swedish nuclear power plant, developing a new process, and evaluating whether any improvements were accomplished. 3. Anti-nuclear Movements in Discursive and Political Contexts : Between Expert Voices and Local Protests
Sammanfattning : Energy policies which maintain and extend nuclear energy are often opposed by anti-nuclear movements. Ambitious plans for developing nuclear energy in Russia, constructing a first nuclear plant in Poland, and lifting the ban on nuclear energy while allowing the replacement of old reactors in Sweden are examples of such energy policies. 4. The role of nuclear membrane proteins in differentiation and chromatin organization
Sammanfattning : The nuclear envelope, consisting of an outer and an inner nuclear membrane, surrounds the genomic material. The genomic material (chromatin) is highly structured with (transcriptionally inactive) heterochromatin mostly found in the nuclear periphery and (transcriptionally active) euchromatin mostly found in the nuclear interior. 5. The role of nuclear envelope proteins in chromatin organization, differentiation and disease
Sammanfattning : In eukaryotes the genetic material is separated from the cytoplasm by the nuclear envelope (NE), consisting of the outer and inner nuclear membrane, the nuclear lamina and the nuclear pores. The genetic material is highly structured with transcriptionally inactive heterochromatin enriched at the nuclear periphery and transcriptionally active euchromatin in the nuclear interior. LÄS MER
