  1. 1. Expansion Governance of the Integrated North Seas Offshore Grid

    Författare :João Gorenstein Dedecca; Paulien M. Herder; Rudi A. Hakvoort; Amineh Ghorbani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Union; expansion planning; governance; HVDC; myopic optimization; North Seas; offshore grid; offshore wind; simulation;

    Sammanfattning : The expansion of offshore power transmission and generation in the North Seas of Europe is accelerating rapidly. This is due to several drivers, including the decarbonization and reform of the European power system, and innovations in offshore wind and high-voltage direct current transmission. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Carbon Dynamics in Northern Marginal Seas

    Författare :Sofia Hjalmarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissolved inorganic carbon; total alkalinity; continental shelf pump; marginal seas; Baltic Sea; Skagerrak; Laptev Sea; East Siberian Sea; Chukchi Sea;

    Sammanfattning : The marginal seas have, despite their relatively small area, an important role in the global carbon cycle. They are largely influenced by carbon and nutrient fluxes from land and a large part of the biological production occurs in the marginal seas. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry of 36Cl and 129I : Analytical Aspects and Applications

    Författare :Vasily Alfimov; Göran Possnert; Ala Aldahan; Hans-Arno Synal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Accelerator Mass Spectrometry; iodine-129; chlorine-36; gas-filled magnet; radioactive tracer; Arctic Ocean; Nordic Seas; North Atlantic; thermohaline circulation; Sellafield; La Hague; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Two long-lived halogen radionuclides (36Cl, T1/2 = 301 kyr, and 129I, T1/2 = 15.7 Myr) have been studied by means of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) at the Uppsala Tandem Laboratory. The 36Cl measurements in natural samples using a medium-sized tandem accelerator (~1 MeV/amu) have been considered. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Deglacial impact of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet on the North Atlantic climate system

    Författare :Francesco Muschitiello; Barbara Wohlfarth; Raimund Muscheler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate; North Atlantic; last deglaciation; isotope geochemistry; chronology; climate modeling; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Sammanfattning : The long warming transition from the Last Ice Age into the present Interglacial period, the last deglaciation, holds the key to our understanding of future abrupt climate change. In the last decades, a great effort has been put into deciphering the linkage between freshwater fluxes from melting ice sheets and rapid shifts in global ocean-atmospheric circulation that characterized this puzzling climate period. 5. 5. Dynamics and Variability of the Circulation in the North-Atlantic Subpolar Seas

    Författare :Léon Chafik; Nilsson Nilsson; Tore Furevik; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the dynamics and circulation in the northern North Atlantic and the Nordic Seas, processes of crucial importance for the mild climate of Scandinavia and Northern Europe. High-resolution ADCP scans of currents from Greenland to Scotland in the top 400 m demonstrate that the Reykjanes Ridge is a very effective separator of flow towards the Nordic and Labrador Seas, respectively.
