  1. 21. In vitro studies of cytostatic drugs and growth factors on leukemic and normal hematopoietic cells : based on in vivo intracellular pharmacokinetics

    Författare :Britt Sundman-Engberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ANLL; Normal bone marrow; in vitro; predictive tests; pharmacokinetics; cytostatic drugs; growthfactors;

    Sammanfattning : The aims were to develop, evaluate and apply in vitro methods for cytostatic drug sensitivity, based on intracellular concentrations found after in vivo infusions. The intracellular pharmacokinetics of anthraquinones and ara-C were compared during and after infusion to leukemic patients. Drug concentrations were evaluated with HPLC. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Regulatory mechanisms contributing to the homeostasis of normal and malignant hematopoietic cells

    Författare :Harsha Madapura Sekharappa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Bone marrow is the site of origin of diverse population of hematological cells with lineage specific function. The different lineages of cells originate from a common progenitor that has a strong self-renewable capability giving rise to myeloid and lymphoid progenitor cells. LÄS MER

  3. 23. NK cell recognition : adaptability to host factors in normal and diabetic mice

    Författare :Sofia Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural Killer; NK cell; education; Non obese diabetic; NOD; diabetes; activation; graft; rejection; in vivo; method; receptor; repertoire;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to understand the rules, which guide NK cell behavior in vivo. NK cells are part of the innate immune system and are important in defense against certain virus infections and tumorigenic cells. They also play a role in rejecting bone marrow grafts. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Responses to Tumour initiating factors and Regulation of Normal and Malignant Haematopoiesis

    Författare :Eva Diffner; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) resides within a specific environment enabling it to retain its self-renewal capacity or quiescent state. It is proposed that the HSC niche is hypoxic, a milieu within which the HSC is protected from intrinsic and extrinsic stimuli. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Live and Let Die : Critical regulation of survival in normal and malignant hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells

    Författare :Pernilla Eliasson; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Mikael Sigvardsson; Urban Gullberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hematopoietic stem cells; hypoxia; self-renewal; survival; acute myeloid leukemia; FLT3; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Haematology; Hematologi;

    Sammanfattning : The hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is characterized by its ability to self-renew and produce all mature blood cells throughout the life of an organism. This is tightly regulated to maintain a balance between survival, proliferation, and differentiation. LÄS MER
