  1. 1. Analysis, Control, and Design Optimization of Engineering Mechanics Systems

    Författare :Esubalewe Lakie Yedeg; Martin Berggren; Eddie Wadbro; Anton Evgrafov; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Topology optimization; Helmholtz equation; acoustic impedance; anisotropic filter; thin structures; finite element method; Nitsche-type method; interface problem; Optimal control; adjoint method; business data processing; administrativ databehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers applications of gradient-based optimization algorithms to the design and control of some mechanics systems. The material distribution approach to topology optimization is applied to design two different acoustic devices, a reactive muffler and an acoustic horn, and optimization is used to control a ball pitching robot. 3. 3. Cut isogeometric methods on trimmed multipatch surfaces

    Författare :Tobias Jonsson; Mats G. Larson; Karl Larsson; Johan Hoffman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cut finite element method; isogeometric analysis; Nitsche s method; a priori error estimation; parametric geometry; interface problem; surface CAD;

    Sammanfattning : Partial differential equations (PDE) on surfaces appear in a variety of applications, such as image processing, modeling of lubrication, fluid flows, diffusion, and transport of surfactants.  In some applications, surfaces are drawn and modeled by using CAD software, giving a very precise patchwise parametric description of the surface. 4. 4. Duality-based adaptive finite element methods with application to time-dependent problems

    Författare :August Johansson; Mats G. Larson; Paul Houston; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; finite element methods; dual-weighted residual method; multiphysics; a posteriori error estimation; adaptive algorithms; discontinuous Galerkin; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Mathematics; matematik;

    Sammanfattning : To simulate real world problems modeled by differential equations, it is often not sufficient to  consider and tackle a single equation. Rather, complex phenomena are modeled by several partial dierential equations that are coupled to each other. LÄS MER
