1. Nitric oxide in inflammatory bowel disease
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to study nitric oxide (NO) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a special reference to disease activity and disease location, in bolls an adult and a pediatric patient population, using rectal gas sampling. Furthermore, we investigated the cellular source of the measured NO as well as the relationship between the expression of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) and the proinflammatory TNF-alpha, IL-10 and INF-gamma. 2. Food Antigen Sensitivity in Coeliac Disease Assessed by the Mucosal Patch Technique
Sammanfattning : A diagnosis of coeliac disease (CD) in adults relies on the presence of a structurally abnormal intestinal mucosa, followed by a clear clinical remission on a gluten-free diet. There is a clear need for a rapid, simple, safe and sensitive method to determine the type and intensity of inflammation in the gut mucosa in clinical practice. LÄS MER
3. Microcirculation, Mucus and Microbiota in Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Sammanfattning : Inflammatory bowel diseases, (IBD), are a group of chronic disorders of the gastro-intestinal tract, and include Crohn’s disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC). The pathogenesis is not known, but involves at least in part a loss of tolerance towards the commensal colonic microbiota. LÄS MER
4. Neural control of colonic epithelial transport, motility and permeability in vivo. An experimental study in anaesthetized rats
Sammanfattning : Colonic dysfunction may result in diarrhoea, abdominal pain or constipation, andinflammatory bowel disease, bile acid malabsorption and particularly irritable bowelsyndrome are very common disorders. The role of the enteric nervous system (ENS) inthese diseases is largely unknown. LÄS MER
5. Nitric oxide : a surrogate marker of bowel inflammation
Sammanfattning : The gas nitric oxide (NO) is a pluripotent biological messenger involved in numerous physiological and pathological processes in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In the intestinal mucosa NO is synthesized from the amino acid L-arginine via a reaction catalyzed by NO synthase (NOS). LÄS MER
